If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the hot new compact truck from Ford Motor Co., cue up your computers for September when the order banks open for the 2023 Ford Maverick. Furthermore, to make this little truck even cooler, it gets a Tremor Package for year two.
Ford intends for the Tremor Package to be an entry-level option for off-road buyers, so don’t expect all the whistles and bells you’ll see on the Ranger Tremor and F-150 Tremor. But you still get a lot of good stuff.
Built off of the FX4 Off-Road Package, the Tremor Package will add a 1-inch lift, Trail Control, off-road-tailored front and rear suspension and advanced all-wheel drive. It’ll also get some of the distinctive Tremor design cues, including blacked-out Ford logos, signature orange Tremor tow hooks, updated fender vent and new grille with orange accents.
There are actually two options for the Tremor packaging: Tremor Off-Road Package ($2,995) and Tremor Appearance Package ($1,495).
The Tremor Package will be offered on XLT and Lariat trims, but interestingly, it won’t be offered with the hybrid powertrain. It will only be offered with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost powertrain, which delivers 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The benefit of that is the max tow rating of 2,000 pounds and payload of 1,200 pounds, which Ford points out is perfect for trailering dirt bikes or loading up the bed with camping gear.
Ford was very specific about when the order books open for Bronco Sport, Edge, Explorer and Ranger: August 2. But as for the 2023 Ford Maverick? Well, the press release vaguely says September. So, we’re not sure if that means the beginning or the end of the month. But considering September 2 is the Friday before Labor Day weekend, we could see them pushing back to sometime after the holiday weekend.
We’ve reached out to Ford asking for a specific date, and will update the story if we get one.
The Tremor Package offers some interesting off-road content with attractive design features. We’re particularly interested in the 1-inch lift.
The 2022 model sold like hotcakes, so if you’re pining away for this compact truck, be ready to get your order in early for the 2023 Ford Maverick – or you might see yourself waiting until 2024. Want more details or photos? Check out the announcement on the Ford media website.
