FCA has big plans for the 2019 SEMA show, and while the company is bringing a wide assortment of vehicles to the event, Mopar will light up the stage with an all new Ram based project.

The concept is lovingly dubbed the Ram Rebel OTG (Off The Grid) and it explores the Rebel’s ability to be an overlanding vehicle. Mopar engineers used a Rebel 1500 as the base canvas, but in a curious move, opted for one with the novel 260 horsepower 3.0 liter EcoDiesel V6 versus the Pentastar engine commonly paired with other 1500s.

Mopar then begins the formal transformation with a two inch lift lift kit for improved ground clearance, as well as beadlock wheels that are shod with 35-inch Goodyear off-road tires for enhanced levels of grip and traction. The front bumper features an integrated winch assembly, while the RAM lettering steals a page out of GM’s playbook, and adopts a flow through layout to help enhance air delivery to the engine. A functional snorkel also helps with air flow, and was designed to be mote than just a mere piece of rugged eye candy.

The side profile featutes prominent wheel flares, and protective rock rails front and rear to help provide maximum protection from unseen obstacles. The rear bumper was sourced from the base Tradesman model, and was added in to help improve the rig’s departure angle by moving the exhaust system. But things really hit a crescendo when you open the 60/40 tailgate where Mopar installed a handy bed rack that even comes, bundled with a collapsible roof tent that can be accessed via a seperate ladder assembly.

The OTG also relishes in its role as a mobile base, and brings a number of RV-esque features to buyers. They include a gas powered stove, a sink with onboard water supply, and the retractable battery powered cooler and kitchen unit. An air compressor and a hidden bed step are also located in the back, while a solar panel helps draw in extra energy for everything to work. Rounding things out are a set of LED lights mounted on the front and rear bumpers, as well as the roof to help provide optimal lighting during late night off-road excursions.

The Ram 1500 Rebel OTG concept is slated to make its debut at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, where it will share the stage with the 13 other vehicles that FCA plans to bring to the event.
