The Honda Passport Baja Spec is headed for desert racing with a claimed 1,300 horsepower and Bryce Menzies behind the wheel. Honda Racing Corporation USA announced the Trophy Truck program ahead of its reveal and appearance at SEMA 2026.
1. A 1,300-hp Honda race truck

Honda says the Passport Baja Spec will compete in the top Trophy Truck class of the 2027 SCORE World Desert Championship. Menzies, a two-time Baja 1000 winner, will drive it.
That is an attention-getting combination. For truck enthusiasts, the next question is how Honda gets that power to the ground and keeps the truck running through a long desert race.
2. SEMA 2026 follows the Los Angeles reveal
According to Honda’s announcement, the unveiling is Oct. 29 at a private Los Angeles event. Its first public appearance follows at the HRC booth during SEMA, Nov. 3-6 in Las Vegas. The racing debut is planned for the 2027 SCORE Baja 500.
3. The engineering details are still coming
Honda says the project draws on technology developed across its Formula 1, IndyCar and IMSA programs. The announcement does not identify the engine configuration, displacement, transmission or specific technologies involved.
Those are the details worth watching at the reveal. A horsepower figure gets the headline, but cooling, drivetrain durability and serviceability will make the engineering story much more interesting.
4. What the Passport name means here
Honda has announced a competition vehicle. It has not announced a 1,300-hp showroom Passport or a production pickup based on this racer.
Readers shopping for an SUV can find our production Passport overview here. For this project, the appeal is seeing what Honda’s racing engineers build when everyday road use is no longer the priority.
