2027 Chevy Silverado engine availability is now confirmed through GM’s official Vehicle Order Guide, providing the first publicly verifiable breakdown of which engines are standard or optional across the redesigned truck’s trim levels.
Chevrolet previously confirmed that the next-generation Silverado would offer four engines: the TurboMax four-cylinder, 3.0-liter Duramax diesel, new 5.7-liter V8 and new 6.6-liter V8. However, its early announcements did not explain which engines would be standard or optional on each trim.
The official GM Vehicle Order Guide now answers those questions.

The TurboMax is the standard engine in the Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado 1LT, fleet-oriented Silverado 2FL and Trail Boss.
The Custom and Silverado 2FL are the only versions listed with no alternative engine.
Four engines with very different roles
The updated TurboMax, RPO code L4B, produces 350 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. That is a substantial increase from the output offered in the previous-generation Silverado. Chevrolet is also pairing the engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission for 2027.
GM’s order guide currently marks the TurboMax as late availability.
The new 5.7-liter V8, RPO code L76, produces 402 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. It is optional in the Work Truck, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado 1LT and Trail Boss. It becomes the standard engine in the High Country.
The new 6.6-liter V8, RPO code L78, produces 481 horsepower and 501 pound-feet of torque. It is restricted to the ZR2 and High Country and requires four-wheel drive. The 6.6-liter is the most powerful engine listed in the initial 2027 Silverado order guide.
The returning 3.0-liter Duramax diesel, RPO code LZ0, produces 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. It is optional in the Work Truck, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado 1LT, Trail Boss and High Country. The diesel is standard in the ZR2.
Important configuration restrictions
The order guide contains several qualifications that a simple engine-and-trim chart does not capture.
The 5.7-liter V8 requires the WT Convenience Package when ordered on the Work Truck. It is not offered with the Regular Cab and Standard Bed configuration.
The Duramax is available on the Work Truck only with the Crew Cab. It is unavailable on the Custom and fleet-only Silverado 2FL.
Meanwhile, the 6.6-liter V8 is not offered below the ZR2 and High Country. Buyers will not be able to combine Chevrolet’s largest gasoline engine with the Work Truck, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado 1LT or Trail Boss.
GM also says Regular Cab and Double Cab models will be late availability. This means some combinations shown in the guide might not be orderable when production begins.
ZR2 and High Country take different approaches
Chevrolet has given the two most expensive Silverado trims distinct standard engines.
The ZR2 comes standard with the 3.0-liter Duramax, emphasizing low-end torque, range and off-road drivability. Buyers wanting gasoline power can move to the 481-horsepower 6.6-liter V8.
The High Country instead comes standard with the 5.7-liter V8. Both the 6.6-liter V8 and Duramax diesel are optional, giving it three powertrain choices.
This also confirms that the 6.6-liter V8 is not standard in either model, at least according to the initial order guide.

Beyond the engine matrix, GM’s 2027 Silverado order guide includes equipment-group details, RPO codes, package requirements, cab and bed restrictions, transmissions, axle ratios, gross vehicle weight ratings, colors, wheels and fleet-only options.
The guide is a live ordering resource, and GM notes that its contents can be revised as production plans and option availability change.
