GMC unveils 2024 Sierra HD AT4X, AEV Edition for off-road truck enthusiasts

Share

GMC is taking their heavy-duty trucks off-road to a whole new level with the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X and the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition. These trucks not only cater to off-road enthusiasts but also provide heavy-duty towing capacity and advanced trailering technology, making them perfect for adventurers who need a versatile, do-it-all truck.

Enhanced Off-Road Features and Towing Capacity

The 2024 Sierra HD AT4X, built on the refreshed 2024 Sierra HD platform, features an 18,500-pound max trailering capacity and a factory-installed 1.5-inch suspension lift. It also includes Multimatic DSSV dampers, a rear e-locking differential, 35-inch Goodyear Territory tires, and unique control arms and steering knuckles for improved off-road performance. To protect the underbody, the AT4X is equipped with a large steel transfer case skid plate and a front aluminum skid plate.

Off-Road Mode and Luxury Interior

The Sierra HD AT4X comes with an Off-Road Mode, like the new 2022 Chevy Silverado replacing 4LO in certain cases, that adjusts vehicle settings for optimized off-road performance. The mode alters throttle progression, transmission shifts, anti-lock brakes, traction control, and stability control to help drivers maintain control when venturing off the beaten path.

The luxurious Obsidian Rush interior features massaging, full-grain leather-wrapped front seats, authentic Vanta Ash wood décor, and a 12-speaker Bose® Premium Series audio system.

AEV Edition: Built for the Trail

The AT4X AEV Edition adds robust stamped steel bumpers, integrated recovery points, front winch capability, and heavy-duty steel skid plates for extra protection. It also includes unique 18-inch Salta wheels and special exterior badging and interior cues.

Powerful Engine Options and Advanced Trailering Tech

The AT4X offers a standard 6.6L gas engine and an available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine, which delivers 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.

The AT4X comes with a suite of advanced trailering assistance technologies, including the available ProGrade Trailering System, enhanced Transparent Trailer View, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering. Up to 14 camera views are available to help drivers navigate towing situations with ease.

State-of-the-Art Cabin Technology

The AT4X features a tablet-style 13.4-inch-diagonal infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch-diagonal configurable driver information center, and a 15-inch-diagonal head-up display, providing drivers with a highly personalized and intuitive experience.

It has the same updated interior that other HD trucks received for the 2023 model year.

Availability and Pricing

The 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition are expected to arrive at dealerships in fall 2023. Pricing will be announced closer to the start of production.

The Bottom Line

These off-road trucks will be a big deal to some and mean very little to others. For the right customer, say a rancher or overlanding enthusiast, this will be a big deal and will really be a great tool to get the job done.
