Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Atlas and 2020 Atlas Cross Sport vehicles. For this VW Atlas recall, the passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may experience a fault in the wiring and deactivate the front passenger airbag when the seat is occupied.

The 2021 Atlas currently has 16 recalls, and the 2020 Atlas Cross Sort has 10 recalls. If you 2018-2021 VW Atlas or 2020 Atlas Cross Sport, be sure to consult the NHTSA recalls portion of the website and type in the specific VIN of your truck to see if this current recall applies to your vehicle.
Owners are advised not to use the front passenger seat until the remedy has been completed. The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed May 26, 2023. Owners will receive a second notice once the remedy becomes available.
