Talkin’ Trucks: GM frame confusion, CP4 probe

This episode of the livestream moved from lawsuits to new-vehicle launches, with one of the bigger topics concerning the Bosch CP4 fuel pump probe. Publisher Tim Esterdahl and Managing Editor Jill Ciminillo go over what the CP4 probe involves as well as which trucks are involved and why this situation occurred in the first place.

Another big conversation centered around whether painting or waxing a truck’s frame is better. Last week we learned that GM paints (or e-coats) the frame of the midsize Colorado, yet it waxes the bigger Silverado frame. So, Esterdahl and Ciminillo talked about the differences between the two processes and why there might be a difference between the midsize and full-size trucks.

Finally, the episode covers the reveal of two new SUVs. The 2024 Buick Envista is a new compact, entry-level SUV, and the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is an all-new version of this midsize SUV, which gets a new hybrid powertrain, which is available on all trims.

Esterdahl and Ciminillo do weekly livestreams on YouTube, which are projected out to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. In 2023, they are switching to a Monday/Tuesday schedule at 8 p.m. EST, so be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel and follow them on social media for the upcoming live episode timing and topics.
