Stellantis North America, formerly known as Chrysler (FCA US, LLC), is recalling certain 2019-2022 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks. For this Ram truck recall, the tailgate may not latch properly due to misaligned tailgate strikers, which could result in the tailgate opening while driving.
An unintended tailgate opening while driving may result in a loss of unsecured cargo, possibly creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the tailgate striker alignment to the box latch and adjust, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 27, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall is ZB8.
In a previous Ram 2500 and 3500 recall, we noted there was an increased risk of fire due to a transmission fluid leak. The 2022 Ram 1500 currently has five recalls. The 2022 Ram 2500 currently has 7 recalls. The 2022 Ram 3500 currently has 7 recalls. If you own a 2019 to 2022 Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500, be sure to consult the NHTSA recalls portion of the website and type in the specific VIN of your truck to see if this current recall applies to your vehicle.
