Ram recall: 250k HD trucks recalled for transmission fluid leak

FCA US, LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Ram 2500 and 2020-2022 Ram 3500 vehicles. For this Ram recall, a build-up of pressure and heat inside the transmission may result in a transmission fluid leak from the dipstick tube.

Leaking transmission fluid may contact an ignition source within the engine compartment, increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 30, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is ZA3.

In a previous Ram HD recall, we noted there was a fire hazard involving solid-state intake heater relays on diesel models. The 2022 Ram 2500 currently has 6 recalls. The 2022 Ram 3500 currently has 6 recalls. If you own 2020-2023 Ram 2500 or 2020-2022 Ram 3500, be sure to consult the NHTSA recalls portion of the website and type in the specific VIN of your truck to see if this current recall applies to your vehicle.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
