2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat

Where can you go in a $93k SUV with 710 horsepower? Anywhere you want. (Photo by Tim Esterdahl)

Buckle up and get ready to fly down the road with Tim in this 710-horsepower 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. With a super-charged HEMI and 640 pound-feet of torque, this is the strongest full-size SUV on the market, and probably the fastest 0-to-60 street-legal SUV you can buy.

0-60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds

As you’ll hear in the video, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat sounds every bit as exciting as you’d expect from something this big and powerful. Billet clear coat paint job and contrasting red SRT brake calipers when it comes to looks.

With paddle shifters for those who like to play and a 0-to-60 timer built right into the driver’s display, this track-ready Durango is designed for fun. But it’s also functional. A third-row and a DVD player with nice screens in the second row mean you can take the kids on a road trip. Extra storage under the cargo space gives you room for gear, luggage or groceries. Wireless charging lets you keep your device powered up and ready to go, while bolstered high-performance leather seats keep everyone comfortable on the road.

Tim decided to take the Durango on a road trip to play golf, and boy did it put a smile on his face. For a vehicle built for speed and power, he says the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is actually quite a smooth ride.

The fuel economy could be worse

I really expected Tim to say the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat never got more 10 MPG, so I was pleasantly surprised when he said he averaged around 14 MPG on his trip home from Colorado. While 11.2 MPG is probably what you should expect if you want to have fun, driving conservatively on the road could save you a few dollars at the gas pump.

If you choose Sport, Track or Launch mode? All bets are off.

Did you know?

The 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is only available for 2021 model. That means if you need an SUV with a third row and you also have a need for speed, you need to run out and test drive one of these bad boys right now. ‘Cause a delay could mean you miss out on the most exciting road trip vehicle that $93k can buy.
