When we last saw the Bentley Bentayga, it was back in June when the British luxury car maker unveiled the refreshed 2021 model. Boasting revised styling inside and out, the Bentagya aimed to add more poise to its luxury laden mission. But Bentley is out to add more raw speed to the Bentayga, and has teased the upcoming Bentayga Speed model.

The images that Bentley chose to share are of a lightly camouflaged prototype, but it does reveal some key details that Bentley enthusiasts will be pleased to hear about. Like other Bentaygas, the Speed will benefit from many of the design updates that Bentley added to the model for 2021. These include elliptical shaped headlights, a more upright grille, and a tweaked rear end that allows it to have more of a connection to the Continental. Back then, Bentley claimed that every panel on the 2021 model was all new, so we expect things to be largely business as usual. However, the Speed model will have quad exhaust tips, as well as a differently shaped front and rear diffuser to help it cleave through the air more efficiently. Splashes of black trim will also set the model apart from the rest, with the wheels, front grille, and other select bits of trim all being dipped in the sinister hue.

The Speed will also get the same interior upgrades as its standard cousins, with the large 10.9 inch infotainment system being part of the package. However, with the Speed being traditionally the performance focused model of the Bentley family, look for Bentley designers to differentiate the Bentayga Speed with unique badging, upholstery, stitching, and other performance focused hardware to make it more track day friendly.

With the Bentayga Speed being based in a refresh versus an outright reboot, look for the outgoing model’s 6.0 liter W12 engine to carryover to the 2021 model. Performance should still be steady at 626 horsepower, which helps the current generation model make the sprint to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Along with the power on hand, the W12’s 664 lb-ft of torque is nothing to sneeze at either, with this lofty figure making itself boldly known in hard launches. The Speed will also feature tweaks to the transmission’s built-in Sport mode, and a throatier exhaust system to help it play a far sweeter song when roaring down the track.

Bentley chose to not drop details such as fuel economy and pricing in today’s teaser announcement, but we won;t have long to wait, with Bentley dropping more images and details on August 11th at 7pm eastern time. The Speed will go on sale towards the end of the year, with pricing expected to be released closer to its official on-sale date. However, based on past Speed pricing, we suspect that the 2021 Bentayga Speed will not go too far from its current $250,000 base sticker.
