The range topping Ram Heavy Duty Limited model is already one of the most potent and fully loaded truck offerings in the market today. But what if your a buyer who wants all the luxury money can buy, but without some of the bright chrome work and frills that come with it? If that accurately describes your inner evil desires, Ram has the answer with the all new Ram Heavy Duty Limited Black Edition.
The exterior styling of the Black Edition does not deviate too much from the base Limited, but it doubles down on the sinister vibes, with Ram designers adding splashes of black to the exterior. This includes the grille, head and taillights, door handles, mirror caps, and the tow hooks. Even the badges themselves have a matte black finish. The wheels also get a black finish, but configuration will play a role in how big they are, with single wheel trucks getting 20-inch wheels. Meanwhile, duallys get slightly smaller 17-inch wheels that still have a very intimidating vibe.
Customers that choose to order the Black Edition will have access to the full engine lineup, with the 410 horsepower Hemi V8 serving as the base engine. Moving up from there lets you choose from either the “base” 6.7 liter Cummins inline diesel making 370 horsepower, or the 3500 exclusive H.O version of the fore-mentioned Cummins engine that packs 400 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque into its clean burning arsenal of tricks. 4×2 and 4×4 variants are also available, but we suspect that most folks will opt for four wheel drive especially in snowier regions. The interior carries over largely unchanged, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing since it does come with real wood trim, supple leather accents, and a whole host of technology.
Ram revealed that the Heavy Duty Black Edition will thunder its way to dealerships this fall, with prices starting at $62,745.
