In a world ravaged by cancellations and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Ram Rebel TRX has rapidly emerged as one of the most highly anticipated new vehicle debuts of the year. It was originally supposed to debut at the 2020 North American International Auto Show in June, but with the show cancelled due to the TCF center being converted into a field hospital, the Ford Raptor rival’s future has been a bit blurry. But a new rumor suggests that the new truck will be unveiled at the end of June.

The alleged unveiling of the truck appears to have been leaked with a report by the website Mopar Insiders indicating it is possibly slated to take place late June during the company’s annual “What’s New” event at the Chelsea Proving Grounds in Chelsea, Michigan. This annual event has always been a unique opportunity for FCA to showcase their latest offerings to assembled media, and it has also had a surprise or two up its sleeve in recent years. However, while the website claims that it cited “undisclosed sources” this report should be taken with a grain of salt especially since Michigan is still in the grips of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ongoing crisis has forced the Governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer to formally roll out several executive orders related to various aspects of everyday life including an ongoing stay at home order. As such, it would be interesting to see if the event will still go on as scheduled, or if it too will be cancelled for the year.

Either way, the Rebel TRX will still bring plenty of goodies to the table when it eventually makes its debut. For starters, it will be powered by a version of the same 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi V8 that also sees duty in the Dodge Charger and Challenger as well as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. But unlike those three, the TRX will be all about blazing its way through off-road trails, with a whole host of off-road centric upgrades being bolted on to go along with the extra performance lurking under the hood.

In other TRX related news, it appears the the pandemic has altered the model’s launch plans, with new rumors suggesting that TRX production will be delayed by two weeks, with the original September 8th start date being scrubbed for a revised launch on October 12th. Look for more information to be revealed as the months tick away before the imminent unveiling of this alpha predator to all the world.
