Ford Motor Company announced this morning that the 2027 F-150 will be available with a broad two-tone exterior paint package with 22 different layout options. This package is part of the Ford Custom Garage program, which is designed to give buyers the chance to add a unique, aftermarket look to their vehicle when they order it at their local dealership. Thanks to the fact that Ford isn’t just going with a white center section, this package is sure to create some great-looking 2027 F-150 pickups in many different color configurations.
The Classic Two-Tone Look Returns to the F-150
Whether they are fully restored or wearing their age, many Ford trucks from the 1970s and 1980s that are still in use today are sporting a two-tone paint scheme, with the upper and lower portions of the body painted one color while the middle is a more neutral tone — often white or silver. This look was added to pickups in an effort to bring some of the styling of cars to trucks as automakers worked to make the pickup more than just a work vehicle.
This was not just a move by Ford, as Dodge and General Motors also offered a similar two-tone layout a few decades back. While there have been two-tone factory paint options in the modern era, they typically have one color on the upper and middle areas of the truck while the lower body is painted a different color. There have been some dealerships that have offered a vintage, three-segment, two-tone exterior design, but it has not been a factory option from any of the automakers for many years.
That all changes with the 2027 F-150, thanks to the Ford Custom Garage program.
The 2027 F-150’s New Custom Two-Tone Package
This two-tone layout is called the 2027 F-150 Custom Two-Tone Package, and it is the newest offering from the Ford Custom Garage program. This is not a post-title package — you order this when you are ordering your 2027 Ford F-150 XLT or Lariat.
You start by picking your base color from one of 10 options — Agate Black, Neptune Blue, Carbonized Gray, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, Wild Green, Marsh Gray, Ruby Red, Star White and Birch Sand — then you pick from one of three “Heritage Stripe Colors” for the center section. As mentioned above, Ford is not just offering a white center section, and while Oxford White is one of the center color options, buyers can also pick Carbonized Gray or Agate Black, leading to a total of 22 available color configurations.
Back in the day, the majority of these two-tone designs had a light color in the middle, but the dark options look pretty great as well. As you can see in the images here, the base color is also found on the large logo stamped into the face of the tailgate, adding more style to the package.
Most importantly, it should be noted that this is a custom paint package and not a vinyl wrap, so it will withstand the test of time like a proper factory paint job.
Only Certain F-150s Can Get the Vintage Look
The slick new two-tone paint package from the Ford Custom Garage is only available on one configuration of the 2027 Ford F-150. It must be a SuperCrew with the 5.5-foot box and a 145-inch wheelbase. Buyers can pick between the XLT and Lariat trim levels, and while they are both available with all 10 base colors and all three stripe colors, there are some limitations when you get to mixing the base and stripe colors.
If you opt for the Oxford White center section, your base color options are limited to Agate Black, Neptune Blue, Carbonized Gray or Ruby Red (shown in the images here) for the upper and lower paint color.
If you pick the Carbonized Gray or Agate Black “stripe” color, you can pick any of the base colors except for the matching body color. This means that the gray and black center paint can be paired with Neptune Blue, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, Wild Green, Marsh Gray, Ruby Red, Star White and Birch Sand, but you cannot get an Agate Black base paint with the Agate Black stripe, since you won’t have two tones.
This Cool Paint Package Comes With a $12,545 Price Tag
This two-tone paint package for the 2027 Ford F-150 XLT or Lariat looks fantastic in the pictures provided, and I bet that some of the green and blue colors will really drive home the vintage look. However, this cool, custom look does not come cheap.
Adding the 2027 F-150 Custom Two-Tone Package from Ford Custom Garage has an MSRP of $12,545, making it substantially more expensive than an average paint upcharge. Since it is part of the initial vehicle order, though, it can be included in a lease payment or financed amount.
The 2027 F-150 Custom Two-Tone Package is available for ordering as part of the Ford Custom Garage program now, but the automaker has said that this package is limited. So, if you are interested in having a new half-ton truck with a classic look, you should act quickly.
Ford Custom Garage Is About More Than Just Paint
The Ford Custom Garage program was designed to offer buyers the chance to add aftermarket-type upgrades with the ease of a normal factory option. Earlier this year, Ford held a media drive event at Michigan International Speedway where we got to experience the FP700S F-150, but those full-vehicle packages are just a small part of the Ford Custom Garage program.
The program has a ton of standalone performance items, like a Whipple supercharger, lowering suspension and cat-back exhaust system, but there are also plenty of interior and exterior appearance upgrades, with the newest being this slick vintage two-tone design.
