The 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A brings back Gobi paint, adds bright orange wheels and dresses the cabin in tan leather. This latest special edition looks back to the Willys CJ-2A, the civilian Jeep that arrived in 1945, while starting with a modern Wrangler Rubicon.
Jeep says orders open in October. The package carries a $4,995 MSRP, and it is the 11th release in the brand’s Twelve 4 Twelve series. Here is what changes, what the Rubicon foundation brings and what buyers still need to confirm.
Retro colors, orange wheels and a different cabin
The two-door shown wears Gobi, a tan inspired by the original CJ-2A’s Harvest Tan paint. Jeep also highlights ’41 green for the four-door, with Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost and Joose among the available colors. Body-color fenders and a matching three-piece hardtop complete the exterior.
The standout details are 17-inch retro wheels finished in Joose orange, matching orange tow hooks and gray grille accents. Standard 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires give those wheels a functional role beyond the throwback appearance.
Tan leather and modern cabin equipment
Inside, Heritage Tan Nappa leather seats join Bison Brown trim and orange stitching. A Willys-Overland shifter medallion and special vent graphics continue the theme. The package also includes remote start, an auto-dimming mirror, a universal garage-door opener and a front TrailCam with a washer.
Rubicon basics: two doors or four, with modern 4×4 hardware
This remains a body-on-frame Wrangler, offered in two-door and four-door configurations. Jeep’s 2027 capability information describes solid front and rear axles, underbody skid plates and Rubicon equipment including a 4:1 low-range transfer case and electronic locking differentials.
For context, the broader 2027 Wrangler engine lineup includes a 270-hp 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder rated at 295 pound-feet of torque and a 285-hp 3.6-liter V6 rated at 260 pound-feet. The turbo pairs with an eight-speed automatic; the V6 offers manual and automatic transmissions. Those are Wrangler-lineup specifications, not a confirmed JL-2A ordering guide: the special-edition announcement does not spell out its engine and transmission combinations.
Jeep also has not supplied JL-2A-specific dimensions, payload or towing figures in this announcement. Buyers should check the final two-door or four-door configuration before assuming the lineup’s maximum ratings apply.
What the $4,995 package price actually means
In its September 12 announcement, Jeep lists the JL-2A package at $4,995. It separately says the edition costs $115 more than a similarly equipped Rubicon. That comparison accounts for comparable equipment; it does not mean adding the entire JL-2A package to a base Rubicon costs $115.
An all-in vehicle price and destination charge are not included in the release. With orders opening in October, the useful comparison will be a final JL-2A build against a regular Rubicon with the comfort, roof and camera equipment you would otherwise select. The special edition’s appeal is its color combination and heritage details; Jeep has not announced a new powertrain as part of this package.
