The 2027 Ford F-150 is replacing its familiar 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 with a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost, but that is far from the only significant change buried in the truck’s new order guide.
Ford is also introducing more affordable versions of the F-150 Tremor and Raptor, eliminating several equipment groups, restricting certain Lariat configurations and offering substantial factory discounts on selected builds.
In April, we reported on a rumor about whether Ford’s 3.0-liter “Nano” V-6 would replace the 2.7-liter EcoBoost in the next-generation F-150. At the time, we expected that change might arrive with the truck’s anticipated 2028 redesign.
It turns out the engine is arriving a year earlier.
2027 Ford F-150 3.0L EcoBoost replaces the 2.7L

The 2027 F-150 order guide officially lists a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, option code 99C, and it identifies the 2.7-liter EcoBoost as deleted.
Ford has not released horsepower, torque or fuel economy figures. All those fields remain listed as “TBD” in the preliminary order guide.
The configuration tables show the 3.0-liter EcoBoost becoming the volume engine across much of the F-150 lineup.
It will be standard on:
- XL models with 141- and 145-inch wheelbases
- Both STX equipment groups
- All three XLT equipment groups
- Lariat 500A
- Lariat 501A
The 5.0-liter V-8 remains standard on the short-wheelbase regular-cab XL, while the 3.5-liter EcoBoost is standard on the 157-inch-wheelbase XL and the high-level Lariat 502A.
King Ranch, Platinum and Tremor continue to use the 3.5-liter EcoBoost as their standard engine. The Raptor retains its High Output version of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost.
This answers one of our biggest questions from April. Ford is not simply adding another engine between the 2.7- and 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines. The new 3.0-liter replaces the 2.7-liter and becomes the starting engine for a large percentage of retail F-150 buyers.
Our previous reporting compared the existing 3.0-liter EcoBoost used in vehicles including the Ranger Raptor with Ford’s current F-150 engines. In Ranger Raptor form, it produces 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.

That does not mean the F-150 version will have those exact numbers. Ford could change its tuning, turbocharger calibration, cooling system or other supporting components for full-size truck duty. Still, the existing engine demonstrates that the 3.0-liter EcoBoost is capable of producing considerably more power than the outgoing 325-horsepower 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine.
It is very likely this is coming out before the redesign due to simple timing. The rumor is the full redesign of the Ford F-150 had been delayed a year due to the impact of tariffs and aluminum supplier issues related to the fire. However, supplier agreements had likely been signed for the 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine to ramp up production and those suppliers couldn’t wait another year. This has happened a few times in recent years, with the most notable one being the new 3.8-liter V6, replacing the 4.0-liter V6, in the 2020 Nissan Frontier, making its debut before the midsize truck’s redesign a year later.
More affordable Ford F-150 Tremor coming

The new engine will get most of the attention, but other changes will make an impact as well like the creation of a lower-content F-150 Tremor 400A equipment group.
For 2026, the Tremor lineup begins with equipment group 401A. The 2027 lineup adds a new 400A underneath it.
The Tremor 400A retains the hardware that makes a Tremor more than an appearance package. Standard equipment includes:
- 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle
- 9.75-inch rear gearset
- Off-road front and rear shocks
- Unique Tremor control arms and front knuckles
- Increased ride height
- Improved approach and departure angles
- Skid plates
- Front and rear tow hooks
- 33-inch all-terrain tires
- Rock Crawl drive mode
- Trail Control
- Trail 1-Pedal Drive
- Trail Turn Assist
Ford then removes several comfort and technology features found on the 401A and higher equipment groups.
The Tremor 400A receives unique cloth seats, a column-mounted shifter and equipment derived from the less expensive STX. It does not include the power seats, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, power-sliding rear window, B&O audio system or Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 equipment included with higher Tremor configurations.
The 5.0-liter V-8 is also unavailable on the 400A. It becomes optional beginning with Tremor 401A.
This should give Ford a significantly less expensive entry point into the F-150 Tremor lineup without eliminating the important off-road hardware.
The bottom line is it is another way for Ford to try to keep the price point the same as the year before, on paper, leaving out details like how many features the stock Tremor now comes with versus the prior year.
A lower-content Raptor 800A joins the lineup

Ford is using a similar strategy with the 2027 F-150 Raptor.
A new Raptor 800A equipment group will sit below the returning 801A, 802A Raptor 37 and supercharged V-8-powered 803A Raptor R.
The 800A is not a watered-down appearance package; it just has less stuff like the Tremor 400A. It retains the High Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost, Fox Live Valve suspension, 35-inch tires, Raptor bodywork and other core performance equipment.
It even keeps leather-trimmed, heated and ventilated front seats.
Compared with the 801A, however, the 800A uses a 400-watt Pro Power Onboard system and gives up several premium features:
- 14-speaker B&O Unleashed audio system
- Head-up display
- Mobile Office Package
- Power-adjustable pedals with memory
- Power tilt-and-telescoping steering column with memory
- Heated rear seats
- Rigid LED fog lamps
- 2-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard
Like the Tremor 400A, the new Raptor 800A appears designed to lower the price of entry while preserving the equipment that directly affects the truck’s off-road performance.
The guide does not include pricing.
Ford F-150 XLT 303A has been eliminated

Ford is also simplifying the middle of the F-150 lineup by eliminating the high-level XLT 303A equipment group.
For 2027, the XLT lineup consists of:
- 300A
- 301A
- 302A
Some equipment previously associated with the 303A becomes available separately on the 302A. The eight-speaker B&O audio system, for example, is now listed as an optional feature.
The Mobile Office Package and XLT Chrome Appearance Package also remain available separately.
Meanwhile, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is included with the 302A. That package includes adaptive cruise control, lane centering, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist.
Body-color bumpers also become standard on the XLT 302A.
Rather than rolling everything from 303A into the 302A, Ford appears to be letting buyers selectively recreate much of the former high-level configuration.
STX FX4 becomes a package instead of a separate trim

The dedicated STX FX4 201A equipment group is also gone.
That does not mean buyers can no longer order an STX with the FX4 Off-Road Package. For 2027, FX4 becomes an option on STX 200A.
It is not available on the lower STX 200B.
The STX 200A can also be ordered with the F-150 Lobo Package, although the Lobo requires the 5.0-liter V-8 and cannot be combined with the FX4 or Tow/Haul packages.
Another interesting restriction is that the Tow/Haul Package is unavailable with the new 3.0-liter EcoBoost. Buyers can still order an integrated trailer brake controller with the 3.0-liter, but they cannot combine that engine with the complete Tow/Haul Package.
We have asked Ford for clarification on the reasoning behind that restriction.
Fewer choices for long-bed F-150 Lariat buyers

Ford is narrowing the number of ways customers can order a Lariat SuperCrew with the 6.5-foot bed and 157-inch wheelbase.
The 157-inch configuration is no longer available with the base Lariat 500A.
A 157-inch Lariat 501A requires either the Lariat Chrome Appearance Package or Lariat Black Appearance Package. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost is also unavailable on a four-wheel-drive Lariat with the 157-inch wheelbase.
That leaves the 3.5-liter EcoBoost as the standard engine for the longer Lariat configuration.
Ford also requires buyers who combine the Lariat 501A with the PowerBoost hybrid to select either the Chrome or Black Appearance Package.
These restrictions will make the longer-bed Lariat more expensive and reduce the number of available combinations.
The 5.0L V-8 expands to King Ranch and Platinum

V-8 fans receive some good news for 2027.
The 5.0-liter V-8 becomes optional on the F-150 King Ranch and Platinum. Both trims continue to offer the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid.
This creates an unusually broad premium-truck powertrain lineup:
- 3.5-liter EcoBoost
- 5.0-liter V-8
- 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid
The Platinum Plus 703A remains a hybrid-only configuration.
Ford offers discounts on preferred F-150 configurations

The preliminary order guide includes a National Discount Packages page that is not mentioned in the major product changes summary.
Ford says the discounts will be applied automatically when a customer orders the required equipment.
Listed discounts include:
- $1,000 for an STX with the 3.0-liter EcoBoost
- $2,000 for STX 200B
- $3,000 for STX 200A
- $1,000 for an XLT with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost
- $2,000 for XLT 302A
- $2,000 for Lariat 502A
- $500 for selected bedliner, tonneau cover, floor mat and wheel-well liner combinations
Ford also lists smaller discounts for certain combinations of BlueCruise, Tow/Haul and appearance packages.
These are not traditional cash incentives announced after the truck reaches dealerships. They are built into specific factory configurations, suggesting Ford is trying to steer buyers toward preferred combinations.
New F-150 colors and appearance packages

Three exterior colors join the F-150 palette:
- Birch Sand
- Neptune Blue
- Wild Green
Antimatter Blue Metallic, Argon Blue and Avalanche have been deleted.
Ford also adds a Lariat Chrome Appearance Package and a dealer-installed 22-inch Ebony-painted six-spoke wheel.
The STX Black Appearance Package has been discontinued, although the regular STX already includes several black exterior elements and 18-inch gloss-black wheels.
Pricing will be announced in the coming weeks.
