The 2027 Lexus GX gets a small comfort and convenience update rather than a redesign. Keyless access expands across the lineup, while three higher trims add ventilated rear outboard seats. The starting price is $69,085, including destination.
The more important buying decision remains which GX fits your passengers and your trailer. The six-grade lineup combines a twin-turbo V6 and full-time four-wheel drive with different seating arrangements and towing ratings. Here is what changes, what carries over and where the prices land.
What changes for the 2027 Lexus GX?

Lexus makes SmartAccess keyless entry for all four doors and the tailgate standard on every grade. Luxury, Luxury+ and Overtrail+ also receive standard ventilation for the rear outboard seats. Those are the headline model-year changes in Lexus’ September announcement.
The core cabin layout carries over, including a 14-inch center touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Physical controls remain for frequently used functions such as cabin temperature and audio volume.
Premium, Premium+, Luxury and Luxury+ offer seating for up to seven. Available second-row captain’s chairs on Premium+, Luxury and Luxury+ change the seating configuration. Buyers should therefore check the actual vehicle rather than assume every GX has the same passenger capacity.
Twin-turbo V6 power and more than 9,000 pounds of towing

The GX 550 retains a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive are standard, and Lexus lists an EPA-estimated 21 mpg highway.
Underneath is the GA-F body-on-frame platform, with a double-wishbone front suspension and a multilink rear suspension. This is a traditional truck-based SUV, with a locking center differential standard across the lineup.
The towing figures depend on trim. Lexus lists a maximum of 9,096 pounds for Overtrail and up to 9,063 pounds for Premium, Premium+ and Overtrail+. Those numbers should not be applied to Luxury or Luxury+ by default. Verify the selected vehicle’s rating and loading limits before matching it to a trailer.
Overtrail keeps the off-road hardware

The Overtrail and Overtrail+ continue with a one-inch suspension lift and 9.84 inches of minimum running ground clearance. An electronically locking rear differential adds traction capability beyond the center differential found in every GX.
Both Overtrail grades also retain E-KDSS, which can independently lock or unlock the front and rear stabilizer bars as conditions require. That allows more wheel articulation off-road while helping control body movement on the road.
Crawl Control manages throttle and braking at one of five low-speed settings in low range. Multi-Terrain Select adjusts vehicle systems for different surfaces, while the camera-based Multi-Terrain Monitor helps show obstacles around and underneath the SUV. These are carryover strengths, not newly introduced 2027 equipment.
2027 Lexus GX prices by trim

The six starting prices below include Lexus’ $1,550 delivery, processing and handling fee:
- Premium: $69,085
- Premium+: $73,400
- Overtrail: $76,730
- Luxury: $81,600
- Overtrail+: $85,010
- Luxury+: $85,600
Overtrail+ costs $8,280 more than Overtrail. Its newly standard rear-seat ventilation is one distinction for 2027, but buyers should compare the complete equipment lists before deciding whether the upgrade is worthwhile.
For shoppers who need towing capability without the highest trim price, Premium and Premium+ deserve a look. For those who prioritize trail hardware, the two Overtrail versions remain the natural starting point. The update does not fundamentally change that choice; it adds a few conveniences to an established lineup.
