Ram is recalling 16,385 model-year 2026 Ram 1500 trucks because their tire pressure monitoring systems may fail to detect low tire pressure or activate the warning light.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles. The tire pressure monitoring system sensors may fail to detect low tire pressure and/or fail to illuminate the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring System.”

Affected VINs should be searchable now at the NHTSA website.

Here is the relevant information from the NHTSA Recall notice:

NHTSA ID Number: 26V623

Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

Components: TIRES

Potential Number of Units Affected: 16,385

Estimated percentage with defect: 100%

Descriptive Information

Some 2026 Model Year Ram 1500 vehicles may experience an incorrectly functioning tire pressure monitoring system (“TPMS”) sensor which may report a false tire pressure.

The suspect period began July 1, 2025, when a process change was made in the tire and wheel assembly, and ended on March 17, 2026, when the tire and wheel assembly process was updated. The suspect period was determined using supplier and vehicle production records.

Similar vehicles not included in this recall were built before or after the suspect period, with tire and wheel assemblies produced by a different supplier or have reached a minimum level of maturity.

Description of defect or noncompliance:

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) 571.138 states that “…each vehicle must be equipped with a tire pressure monitor system” that detects “when one or more of a vehicles tires is significantly under-inflated and illuminates a low tire pressure warning telltale.” The tire pressure system in the suspect vehicles may not accurately report tire pressure.

Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:

Inaccurate indication of tire pressure may result in tire failure, which could increase the risk of a crash.

Description of the cause:

None stated.

Identification of any warning that can occur:

None prior to failure. When the failure occurs, the TPMS Telltale may illuminate.

Chronology

On March 17, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into inoperative Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems in some 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles.

Between March 2026 and August 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering and Supplier Quality to review the issue, understand potential failure modes, and to determine the suspect population.

On September 16, 2026, FCA US TSRC organization recognized that a vehicle build issue existed in some 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS Nos. 571.138.

On September 22, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.138 exists in certain vehicles.

Remedy

Description of recall schedule:

FCA US will notify dealers on or about 10/06/2026 and begin notifying owners on or about 10/27/2026.
