A recall affecting 844,027 Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, and Dodge models for rearview camera issues.
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2026 Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Gladiator, Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, Ram Promaster, Ram Promaster EV, Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid, Chrysler Voyager, and 2026-2027 Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Charger vehicles. The rearview camera image may fail to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, “Rear Visibility.”

Descriptive Information
Some of the above listed vehicles were built with a radio software that may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. Please refer to the NHTSA Part 573 Safety Recall Report for suspect periods of each model referenced. The suspect population was determined using vehicle production and engineering change records.
Similar vehicles not included in this recall were built after the suspect period.
Description of defect or noncompliance:
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) No. 571.111 S6.2.6 requires that “The rear visibility system default to the rearview image being visible and meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 571.111 S6.2.1 (field of view) and S6.2.2 (image size) at the beginning of each backing event, regardless of any modifications to the field of view that the driver had previously selected…” and apply to other markets via direct reference to FMVSS or are implied via free trade agreements. Suspect vehicles may not display the rearview image during a backing event.

The suspect radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying in a backing event. Failure to display a rearview image can increase the risk of a crash.

Chronology
On May 7, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into a potential issue related to a loss of rearview image display on some 2026 Model Year Ram 1500/2500/ProMaster/ProMaster EV, Jeep Compass/Gladiator/ Wrangler/ Grand Cherokee/ Grand Cherokee L/ Grand Wagoneer/ Grand Wagoneer L/Cherokee and 2026-2027 Model Year Chrysler Pacifica/ Pacifica PHEV/ Voyager, Dodge Charger vehicles.
During May and June 2026, FCA US TSRC and FCA US Engineering reviewed warranty data, field records, vehicle production records and customer assistance records to understand potential customer consequence.
On July 15, 2026, FCA US TSRC organization recognized an issue existed on certain vehicles related to the rearview image not being displayed, potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS No.111.
On August 06, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to FMVSS No. 111 exists in certain vehicles.

Description of remedy program:
FCA will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to update the radio software. Vehicles will be updated either via firmware Over-The-Air, if capable/available, or via USB at the dealer.
How remedy component differs from recalled component:
The remedy is updated radio software.
Description of recall schedule:
08/13/2026: FCA US will notify dealers on or about 08/20/2026 and begin notifying owners on or about 09/01/2026.
