We are familiar with the Ford F-Series trucks. You’ve got the F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 – you get the idea. They all end in 50. But we’ve recently heard that Ford Motor Co. filed a patent in the U.S. for the F-200. What in the huh?
Filed on August 28, 2023, the patent specifically states it is for “Motor vehicles, namely gasoline and electric automobiles, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles, and their structural parts.” So, a new truck is coming, but what in the heck will it be?
Short answer: We have no clue.
Various outlets have picked up on the Ford F-200 patent, and there are a lot of thoughts about what it could be. We’ve already speculated that an F-150 Lobo will be a new sport truck, so we don’t think it’ll necessarily fall under that guise. So, what could it be?
Here’s a round-up of some of the speculation.
Autoblog digs into the electric side of the equation, pondering whether the F-200 could be the previously leaked Project T3 truck. This would likely be a Ranger-sized truck and is expected to be revealed in 2024.
If you look at The Drive, however, they veer away from the electric-truck theory, and instead the publication says, essentially, it’s probably nothing. Ford is reserving the name just in case.
TFL Truck takes another track altogether and speculates it’s going to be a heavier version of the F-150. We’ll insert a scratching-chin emoji on this one because Nissan Titan XD.
We’ve also seen theories about it being a chassis cab version of the F-150, an SUV or a sportier version of the F-150 Lightning.
But at the end of the day, speculation is the key word here. There are no confirmations or actual facts to back up any single theory.
We have no idea what the Ford F-200 could be, but a white space Titan XD-like truck is last on our list. The chassis cab theory could hold water, as could some kind of electric something. Then again, as The Drive said, it could be nothing at all.

Place holder. They have had F100 for years.
