New teaser photos for the upcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter have been revealed showing off new details. These teaser images from Toyota along with spy photos are ramping up the excitement for Toyota fans.

In a short press release, Toyota said, “developed from the ground up for those seeking sustained adventures, Tacoma Trailhunter will build upon Toyota’s legendary off-road and overlanding credibility with purpose-built engineering and robust components. Stay tuned for more.”

We also saw what appeared to be a Tacoma Trailhunter in spy photos last week. We previously saw a Trailhunter concept of the Tundra revealed at the 2022 SEMA showIt takes a stock Tundra and adds different accessories, graphics packages and changes the overall look of the truck.

We can see this same idea in these photos of the Tacoma Trailhunter: the ARB bumper, the red recovery hook then on the front, the headlights with Trailhunter spelled out. There is also unique Trailhunter badging.

Putting all the clues together, we expect to see a lot of new things with the Tacoma.

For example, the iForce Max hybrid powertrain name will be used on the Tacoma powertrain. We don’t know if it will be the same 3.5-liter V-6 twin turbo as used in the Tundra, likely too big, but the name will be used. We also know there will be suspension changes with coil springs, like in the Tundra. Then, there’s the overall shape and look, which is very Tundra like. Plus, the Tacoma will likely utilize much of the same interior layout like the Tundra.

Finally, we know the 2024 Tacoma is coming soon with Toyota following a similar teaser image playbook it did with the Tundra. Basically, the automaker put out an image a week until the unveil.

The bottom line

There is a lot of excitement for a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma since the current generation has been out for some time. With a new crop of competitors coming out this year (cue the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon and Ford Ranger), this is going to be a big year for the midsize truck segment.
