Nissan Titan, Frontier recall: More than 200k trucks recalled for rollaway risk (again)

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Titan and Frontier vehicles. For this recall, the transmission parking pawl may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway.

Owners are advised to apply the parking brake every time they park their vehicle. A remedy plan is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 1, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan’s customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

While this seems like exactly the same recall we reported in July, this recall has a different NHTSA campaign number, and there are more trucks being recalled. So, it is very important for this Nissan Titan and Frontier recall, that if you own one of the 2020-2023 trucks, consult the NHTSA recalls portion of the website and type in the specific VIN of your truck to see if it is under recall.

In recent years Nissan Titan and Frontier have had minimal recalls, but the biggest one included 1.2 million 2018-2019 Nissan vehicle recall for the lack of a back-up camera image. The 2022 Nissan Titan currently has three recalls, two of which involve the rollaway transmission. The 2022 Nissan Frontier currently has five recalls, two of which involve the rollaway transmission.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
