If you truly take your truck off road, dirt is a badge of honor and skid plates are a must-have. But if you want expressive style in addition to capability, you’re often looking at a truck that will cost more than $50k. So, Ford Motor Co. is introducing the 2023 F-150 Rattler specifically targeting those with an adventure lifestyle at a budget friendly price.
Based on the base XL trim, the F-150 Rattler will include the FX4 Package ($1,005) as well as additional interior and exterior styling features. Trucks are expensive. The average transaction price of a new vehicle these days is about $45k, and if you look at full-size pickup trucks specifically, that transaction price jumps to nearly $58k. That’s because of all the options and upgrades people typically add since trucks are turning more into every-day drivers rather than simply the work truck of yore. So, $41k for an attractive and capable truck is certainly an easier pill to swallow in the days of scarcity and markups.
Now, the real question will be if Ford can produce them at volume and on time.
This is a good package. I’m glad they are making it.
