It’s official: The 2023 Cadillac Escalade will get the high-performance V-badge. And judging from the sweet sound of a video released by General Motors, it’s going to be amazing!
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade will be the first SUV to don the high-performance V-Series badge. With nearly two decades of racing-inspired prowess, the V-Series designation is reserved for vehicles that encompass the peak of Cadillac performance, bold, distinguished design and innovative technology.
More information about the 2023 Cadillac Escalade V-Series, including full vehicle specs, will be revealed in spring 2022. For now, here’s what we know about the 2023 Cadillac Escalade V.
With the V-Series comes the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine. This is the same high-output, performance engine that GM has put in the Corvette Z06, the Cadillac CTS-V and the Camaro ZL1. So, if it’s good enough for those high-performance cars, it should be awesome in the Escalade — although, obviously the Escalade carries much more weight than those low-profile cars.
In more current model year vehicles like the CT5-V Blackwing, the horsepower has been impressive – to the tune (emphasis on tune) of 668 horsepower.
GM Authority recently postulated that the 2023 Escalade V will come in with at least 640 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission will go with it.
Spy photos of the 2023 Escalade-V shows quad exhaust on the back end. This will make for an incredible exhaust note, and judging from this Tweet from Cadillac the sound is amazing. Make sure to have the volume up and enjoy.
Whether this is a full-on V-Series or will be similar to the Blackwing V series that Cadillac has done on more recent vehicles, remains unclear.
But with all the talk of GM rapidly heading toward a fully electrified lineup, including the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, it’s great to see (and hear) a V-8 added to the Escalade for a last hurrah.
The CTS-V was one of my all-time favorite vehicles. To me, it epitomized everything a Cadillac should, plus had great performance and a great sound. Obviously, the Escalade is a high-priced luxury SUV that’s full of gluttony in general. Now with a tuned-up, supercharged V-8 added to it, the gluttony is piled on and we think that’s marvelous.
