With the addition of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, you might be wondering what changes occur versus the gasoline version. We were definitely curious.
In photos, you can see the electric blue accents that don everything from badging to tow hooks, but what’s underneath the sheet metal?
Well, rather than blather on, we figured the best idea might be to do a spec-by-spec comparison between two models with the same engines. The following specs are from the 4-door model only, since the 4xe is 4-door only. And, since the 4xe is equipped with the 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine, we looked at the 2021 Jeep Wrangler specs with the same gasoline engine as a comparison.
The biggest differences of note: the size of the fuel tank, the total power output, weight (4xe is chunky!) and total cargo plus passenger volume.
Oh, and one thing not officially noted in the specs below: Jeep estimates the 4xe will get an estimated 50 MPGe. If this rings true, this is flipping phenomenal considering considering the gasoline version will get 21 mpg in combined driving.
You want the specifics? See below. And have fun wading through the weeds.
