2021 Ford F-150 Could Arrive With On Board Electric Generator According To New Report

Share

The wave of electrified pickups is rapidly approaching dealer lots, and as covered here in the past, the staggering amount of choice that will potentially be on hand is very impressive. Ford has big plans for the 14th generation F-150, and while the truck is expected to bring new technology, and updated performance hardware to America’s Best Selling truck, a new report revealed by Muscle Cars & Trucks appears to suggest that the truck could arrive with an on board electric generator.

Many pickups (electric or otherwise) usually come equipped with onboard power outlets in the bed to run various pieces of electrical equipment right on the job site, but the addition of an onboard generator alongside the fore-mentioned outlets would be a significant addition in this hotly contested segment. Not much is known about the alleged generator, but it is suspected that it could appear as an option on both gasoline and hybrid versions of the F-150. Ford for its part is not commenting on the validity of the report, but an available onboard generator could prove to be a useful feature for certain customer groups especially commercial customers looking to run key pieces of equipment, as well as RV owners looking for a versatile work station for running electric air inflators, cooking equipment, and even music players.

Like other new vehicle launches, the F-150’s path to the spotlight has been affected by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, and Ford has so far not released an official date on when the 2021 Ford F-150 will make its appearance. But look for more information to potentially trickle out closer to the end of summer.
