The iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame has seen its fair share of celebrities, superstars, and other entertainment icons enshrined in its special patches of concrete over the years, but it had so far not enshrined a mechanical participant in the entertainment industry. That changed, with the organizers of the Hollywood Walk of Fame enshrining the rugged Chevrolet Suburban with its own star on the walk, which also made it the first vehicle to ever receive such an honor in the process.

While the big Chevy SUV may seem like an odd choice for the Walk of Fame at first glance, look closer at the finer details, and the pieces do indeed fall into place, with the Suburban boasting a very impressive film and television career. The Suburban first made its movie debut in 1952, with its television debut coming a few years later in 1956. Since then, the Suburban has managed to collect an enviable list of film and television appearances, with the big family vehicle being in at least one film every year since 1960, and one television series per year following its 1956 debut in that particular media. Along with these two long running streaks, the Suburban has also appeared in over 30 award nominated films over the years, which is a very potent testament to both its longevity, as well as its versatility in covering a wide range of genres over its 67 year film career.

“For six decades the Chevrolet Suburban has been Hollywood’s longest-working actor,” said Rana Ghadban, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “Appearing in classic feature films and on must-see television shows, the Suburban is a well-established industry mainstay. With the Chevrolet Tahoe also making an impact in movies and on television, it’s impressive to have both vehicles now join an illustrious group of actors and characters that are forever known as Hollywood legends.”

With the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and its slightly smaller counterpart the Tahoe in the final stages of development, we are very eager to see if the next chapter of the Suburban can continue to find success not only in future entertainment roles, but also in an SUV segment that has seen rapid growth and change over the past few years.

Is this for real? This is an incredible achievement though.
