Check your vehicle’s VIN at the NHTSA recall lookup or contact your dealer to confirm whether your vehicle is included.

Here is the relevant information from the NHTSA Recall notice:

NHTSA ID Number: 26V653

Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company

Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Number of Units Affected: 102,159

Descriptive Information

Ford’s team reviewed supplier process and maintenance records to determine the population of affected parts. The Ford process can trace analog cluster production to the vehicle in which the analog cluster is installed.

Affected vehicles are equipped with suspect analog clusters, whose speedometer and/or tachometer needle may not operate properly.

These vehicles are not produced in VIN order. Information as to the applicability of this action to specific vehicles can best be obtained by either calling Ford’s toll-free line (1-866-436-7332) or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer who can obtain specific information regarding the vehicles from the Ford On-line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) database.

43,300 F-250 vehicles are affected.

26,354 F-350 vehicles are affected.

6,847 F-450 vehicles are affected.

12,260 F-550 vehicles are affected.

2,827 F-600 vehicles are affected.

10,570 F-150 vehicles are affected.

Description of defect or noncompliance:

The analog cluster’s tachometer and speedometer may become stuck or move erratically, providing inaccurate readings to the driver.

Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:

A non-functional speedometer may not convey the vehicle’s actual speed to the driver, which could increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

Description of the cause:

Ford reviewed supplier records and concluded that supplier process deficiencies caused the defect.

Identification of any warning that can occur:

Customers with a redundant digital speedometer function available in the cluster may notice a difference between the 2 speeds displayed.

Chronology

On May 28, 2026, an issue was brought to Ford’s Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG) to review reports of analog cluster tachometer and/or speedometer needles becoming stuck, functioning improperly, or providing inaccurate readings on F-150 and Super Duty vehicles.

Ford reviewed supplier records and field reports and concluded that supplier process deficiencies were the cause of this condition. While the exact nature of these deficiencies is still not fully understood, CCRG confirmed that they were resolved by tool maintenance actions undertaken by the supplier on January 15, 2026.

During the investigation, requirements under FMVSS 101 “Controls and Displays” were assessed. Ford concluded that affected vehicles meet the stated requirements pertaining to the speedometer, but may be viewed as not meeting the full intent of the standard. Ford’s Automotive Safety Office discussed the matter with NHTSA’s Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance, which agreed with Ford’s interpretation that the condition may not meet the intent of the standard.

As of September 16, 2026, Ford identified 18 warranty and 93 field reports attributed to this concern received between January 29, 2025, and August 11, 2026. These reports are related to 79 distinct VINs.

Ford is not aware of any accidents, fires, or injuries related to this condition.

On September 29, 2026, Ford’s Field Review Committee reviewed the concern and approved a field action.
