A recall affecting 15,535 Land Rover Discovery models for possible water damage to the rearview camera.
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Land Rover Discovery vehicles. Water may not be able to drain away from the rearview camera due to insufficient drain holes, which may result in damage to the rearview camera.

Descriptive Information
Jaguar Land Rover is conducting a voluntary safety recall campaign involving certain 2021-2025 Model Year Land Rover Discovery vehicles built at the Nitra Vehicle Assembly Plant from September 14, 2020 to July 17, 2025. 15,535 Land Rover Discovery vehicles in the United States and Federalized Territories. The basis of the recall population of vehicles was determined by inspection of warranty claims and field report data.
Description of defect or noncompliance:
A concern has been identified where the water management system on the tailgate of the vehicle may not be sufficient to allow water to drain away from the rearview camera. This can allow water to pool around the camera installation and, over time, can cause damage to the camera.
Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:
A water-damaged camera may not display an image, or may display an unclear image, when requested to do so. Lack of display of a clear camera image could increase the risk of a crash.

Chronology
On 20 February 2026, a Product Safety and Compliance Committee (PSCC) investigation was opened following a review of warranty claim data indicating a potential increased rate of replacements of the rear camera in a small population of 2021 model year Discovery vehicles.
Through the remainder of February and March 2026, the customer verbatims associated with the identified replacements were analysed but revealed no specific pattern or trend. Parts return analysis completed by the supplier concluded the camera did not contain an identifiable defect.
From April 2026 and through to end of June 2026, the investigation was broadened to include later model years, warranty claim detail was reviewed, and predictive hazard curves plotted. In parallel, physical and virtual analysis was completed on the camera and its installation within the vehicle, which showed that under certain heavy rainfall situations, it was possible for water to pool around the camera.
On 09 July 2026 the matter was referred to the PSCC Decision Forum, which instructed a recall be launched to remedy the affected vehicles.
JLR has received 100 claims and field reports in the US between 31 August 2021 and 30 March 2026.
There have been no reported accidents, injuries or fires in the US as a result of this concern.

Remedy Type: Repair, Replace
Description of remedy program:
Vehicles will have additional drain holes drilled in the underside of the tailgate trim which contains the camera. In addition, the functionality of the camera will be verified and, if required, it will be replaced. There will be no charge to the owners for this permanent repair.
How remedy component differs from recalled component:
This is a water management issue, and holes will be drilled in the underside of the tailgate trim to increase drainage around the camera.
Description of recall schedule:
Notifications to dealers will occur on July 30, 2026. Distribution of owner notification letters will occur on or before September 11, 2026.
