The 2027 Rivian R1T gets new trim names, a new standard wheel-and-tire combination and a different included silver paint. The important shopping detail is how those choices affect range: the longest-range number does not apply to the new standard tires.
Rivian now organizes the truck around Premium, Performance and Quad trims. Before choosing one, compare the actual battery and wheel configuration, not just the largest number on the model page.
New tires change the range calculation

The 2027 update adds 20-inch Adventure All-Season wheels with Goodyear tires as standard on Premium and a no-cost choice on Performance. Rivian lists EPA estimates of 300 miles for Premium, 380 for Premium Long Range and 348 for Performance with that setup.
With 22-inch road wheels, Premium Long Range reaches up to 420 miles and Performance reaches 371 miles. Choosing the 20-inch setup therefore changes those estimates by 40 and 23 miles, respectively. Those are configuration comparisons, not a measured result from our own testing.
For buyers, this makes the final build sheet more useful than a headline range claim. Tire choice should match the roads you actually drive, and the range figure used for trip planning should match that choice.
Premium, Performance and Quad replace the old shopping shorthand

Premium uses two motors, Performance uses three, and Quad retains four. Premium starts with 533 horsepower; an optional Power Upgrade raises output to 665 horsepower. Performance produces 850 horsepower, while Quad reaches 1,025 horsepower. All use all-wheel drive.
2027 R1T prices and the included paint choice

Rivian’s current R1T model page lists starting prices of $79,990 for Premium, $100,990 for Performance and $115,990 for Quad. These are starting figures, with additional taxes and fees, rather than guaranteed delivered totals.
Esker Silver replaces LA Silver as the included paint choice. The revised names make the range look simpler, but buyers still need to separate trim, battery, power upgrade and tire choices when comparing two trucks.
Size and towing: check the configuration

The R1T measures 217.1 inches long with a 135.8-inch wheelbase. Rivian lists a maximum height, including the antenna, of 78.2 inches. Measure a garage opening against the truck’s actual suspension setting and accessories before assuming it fits.
Rivian’s current towing table lists 7,700 pounds for second-generation dual-motor trucks with Standard or Large batteries, and up to 11,000 pounds with the Max battery. A weight-distributing hitch is required to exceed 5,000 pounds. The maximum rating is not a blanket number for every R1T.
If towing is the reason for buying the truck, confirm the specific vehicle’s limits and plan charging around the trailer. An unloaded EPA range estimate does not establish how far the truck will travel while towing. The same careful configuration check that settles the tire question should settle the towing question before an order is placed.
