Toyota has added the missing TRD Pro details to its earlier 2027 Tundra and Sequoia announcements. Yes, the headline is a new exterior color. Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma TRD Pro models get a shade called Honeycomb, while the 4Runner receives a slightly different version called Hot Honey.
However, Toyota included at least a couple of meaningful hardware changes. The 2027 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia TRD Pro get newly designed, vehicle-specific FOX enhanced QS3 shocks. They also receive standard red tow hooks, while Toyota will offer additional performance equipment for buyers who want more than a bright color.
We have already covered the newly announced 2027 Toyota Tundra Trailhunter and the new 2027 Toyota Sequoia Trailhunter. This latest announcement fills in some of the details for Toyota’s flagship off-road models.
Honeycomb is the new 2027 Toyota TRD Pro color
Honeycomb will be the attention-grabbing color for the 2027 Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma TRD Pro models. Toyota describes it as a bold, high-impact color designed to emphasize the adventurous character of the TRD Pro lineup.
The 2027 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will not wear the exact same paint. Instead, Toyota says it will offer a slightly different shade called Hot Honey. The company has previously shared with me that since the 4Runner is an imported vehicle, it wears a slightly different hue. This was back in 2022 when the 4Runner wore a bright green named “Lime Rush” while the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro featured “Electric Lime Metallic.” Not sure why this same split distinction did not apply to last year’s Wavemaker.
Toyota has made these eye-catching colors an important part of the TRD Pro identity, even when the mechanical updates are relatively limited.
New FOX QS3 shocks add substance to the update
The more important change is underneath the Tundra and Sequoia. Both 2027 TRD Pro models receive newly designed FOX enhanced QS3 shocks. Toyota says each suspension is tuned specifically for the vehicle it supports.
According to Toyota, the adjustable shocks are designed to improve feel, stability and adjustability over rough terrain. The company has not released shock dimensions, adjustment ranges or other technical specifications. Still, this is the part of the announcement that could make a real difference from behind the wheel.
FOX shocks are not new to either model. The current Tundra TRD Pro already has a FOX-equipped suspension with a 1.1-inch front lift. Meanwhile, the current Sequoia TRD Pro uses 2.5-inch FOX internal-bypass coilovers and rear remote-reservoir shocks.
2027 Tundra TRD Pro keeps its ISO-dynamic seats
The 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will continue to offer ISO-dynamic front seats. These seats use a damping system designed to help stabilize the occupants while traveling over rough terrain. Toyota made them available on the 2026 Tundra TRD Pro, following their introduction in the Tacoma.
Toyota also mentions an available TRD Performance package for the Tundra. It says the package will add hardware and tuning for drivers seeking more dynamic performance. Unfortunately, Toyota has not identified the components included in that package.
Tow Hooks!
Red tow hooks are now standard and complete the visible TRD Pro changes. A loud complaint of the off-road community for the current Tundra was its lack of front tow hooks. Tim wrote a whole article about why they weren’t previously available. These new, red tow hooks provide a functional recovery point while adding a contrasting accent against the new Honeycomb exterior.
2027 Sequoia TRD Pro gets similar upgrades
The 2027 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro receives the same basic combination of upgrades. That includes Sequoia-specific FOX enhanced QS3 shocks, Honeycomb paint, and standard red tow hooks.
An available TRD Performance package will also be offered for the Sequoia. As with the Tundra package, Toyota has not explained what hardware or tuning it includes.
Notably, Toyota does not mention ISO-dynamic seats for the Sequoia. Its color announcement specifically associates the seats with the Tundra and Tacoma. Therefore, we do not assume the motion-damping seats are coming to the three-row SUV.
Toyota is still holding back important details
Toyota has not released pricing for its 2027 TRD Pro models. It also has not provided full suspension specifications, explained the TRD Performance packages, or announced whether output from the available powertrains will change.
The company says complete specifications and pricing for the 2027 Tundra and Sequoia will arrive closer to production in fall 2026. Until then, this remains an early preview rather than a complete model-year announcement.
The bottom line
Honeycomb paint is clearly the centerpiece of Toyota’s latest 2027 TRD Pro announcement. That is not exactly the kind of news that transforms an off-road truck or SUV.
Still, the redesigned FOX enhanced QS3 shocks could prove more important than the color. Vehicle-specific tuning and added adjustability may improve how the Tundra and Sequoia TRD Pro handle rough terrain. We will need complete specifications and time behind the wheel to determine whether the difference is meaningful.
For now, Toyota has given the 2027 TRD Pro lineup a fresh color, some bright red tow hooks and just enough suspension news to keep the update from being entirely cosmetic.
