2024 Toyota Sequoia changes announced, new package and TRD Platinum

Share

Following up on a full redesign last year, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia changes bring a new Nightshade package and the availability of the TRD Off-Road package for the Platinum trim.

In case you missed it, the third-generation of the full-size, body-on-frame SUV is completely new for the 2023 model year with a standard i-Force Max hybrid powertrain returning 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for this powertrain is 21/24/22 MPG city/highway/combined for 2WD while the off-road trimmed TRD Pro sees a drop in MPG by 2 across the board. For 4WD models, the fuel economy sees a similar 2 MPG drop.

The 3-row SUV is rated to tow 9,500 pounds.

The Sequoia comes in an SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro and Capstone and in a variety of colors including Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Silver, Lunar Rock, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Blueprint, Midnight Black Metallic, Smoked Mesquite, Supersonic Red, Solar Octane and the TRD-exclusive Terra. There are some premium paint colors like Wind Chill Pearl and Supersonic Red as well as Solar Octane exclusive to the SR5 with TRD packages.

2024 Toyota Sequoia changes

For this model year, Toyota is offering two package additions and a new color to the Sequoia.

First, a Nightshade package is available with black accents on the 20-inch wheels, over fenders, grille, mirror caps and badge. It is available exclusively on Limited grades.

Second, the TRD Off-Road package is now available on Platinum trim models. This package includes a TRD-tuned Fox internal-bypass shocks, an aluminum TRD front skidplate, a standard selectable locking rear differential, Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select drive modes, crawl control and hill-descent control.

Third, the aforementioned TRD-exclusive Terra color is now available for the Sequoia with the Solar Octane, the exclusive color for the 2023 Sequoia TRD Pro, now available on SR5 trims with TRD packages.

Finally, the starting price for the 2024 Sequoia is $60,875 according to Toyota.com. This is about a $1,000 more than the 2023 model.

The Toyota Sequoia is assembled at the San Antonio, Texas plant.

The bottom line

No surprise here. These changes are very similar to the 2024 Toyota Tundra changes and are consistent with the conservative nature of Toyota. It will be several years until we actually see something new.
