Toyota Corolla Cross recall: Nearly 100k SUVs recalled for air bag failure

Share

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Corolla Cross vehicles. For this Toyota Corolla Cross recall, the instrument panel may have been produced without the required perforation, which could result in the front-passenger air bag not deploying properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safey Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

An air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury during a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the instrument panel, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 10, 2023. Owners may contact Toyota’s customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota’s number for this recall is 23TB04/23TA04.

The 2022 Corolla Cross currently has one recall, and the 2023 Corolla Cross has just one recall as well. If you own a 2022-2023 Toyota Corolla Cross, be sure to consult the NHTSA recalls portion of the website and type in the specific VIN of your SUV to see if this current recall applies to your vehicle.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
