A recall of 239,131 Ram 1500 trucks for rearview cameras that may not display images.
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Ram 1500 vehicles. A radio software error may cause the rearview camera image not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, “Rear Visibility.”
Affected VINs should be searchable now at the NHTSA website.

Descriptive Information
Some 2025-2026 Model Year Ram 1500 vehicles may have a rearview camera system which may not display the rearview image when shifting to reverse.
The suspect period began on October 6, 2023, when the first 2025 Model Year vehicle was produced, and ended on February 23, 2026, when the last suspect 2026 Model Year vehicle was produced. The suspect population was determined using vehicle production and engineering change records.
Similar vehicles not included in this recall were built after the suspect period or were built with a different radio and/or camera.
Description of defect or noncompliance:
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) No. 571.111 S6.2.6 requires that “The rear visibility system default to the rearview image being visible and meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 571.111 S6.2.1 (field of view) and S6.2.2 (image size) at the beginning of each backing event, regardless of any modifications to the field of view that the driver had previously selected…” and apply to other markets via direct reference to FMVSS or are implied via free trade agreements. Suspect vehicles may not display the rearview image during a backing event.

Suspect radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying during a backing event. Failure to display a rearview image can increase the risk of a crash.

Chronology
On March 17, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into a potential issue related to rearview cameras not displaying on some 2025-2026 Model Year Ram 1500 Vehicles.
From March 2026 through June 2026, FCA US TSRC reviewed warranty data, field records, and customer assistance records to understand potential customer consequence.
From July 2026 through August 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering to review vehicle production records and engineering change records to understand the scope of the issue.
On August 5, 2026, FCA US TSRC organization recognized an issue existed on certain vehicles related to the rearview camera not displaying the rearview image, potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS No.111.
On August 26, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.111 exists in certain vehicles.

FCA US LLC will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to update the radio software.

09/01/2026: FCA US will notify dealers on or about 09/09/2026 and begin notifying owners on or about 09/24/2026.
