During this week’s livestream, Publisher Tim Esterdahl and Managing Editor Jill Ciminillo had a full plate of topics (including the plethora of 2024 Tacoma teasers that keep on coming) and a lot of audience feedback. The first topic was a hot button for a lot of people because General Motors made an announcement last week that they’re ditching Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its electric vehicles — starting with the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV, which is due out this summer. GM says the reason is due to increased technology that depends on the native in-car systems — like battery pre-conditioning when navigating to a charger or using the upcoming hands-free Ultra Cruise system. We tend to think the reason has more to do with subscription fees and data collection.
UPDATE: April 4, 2023, has come and gone and Toyota didn’t reveal the 2024 Tacoma. What they did do is give us a peak at the tailgate and engine, as well as show off some sleek silhouette photos with more details.Â
Topic two was the spate of 2024 Toyota Tacoma teasers that have started to go out via social media and more official channels. We talked about what we know, what we think we know and a weird Brazilian patent.
The final topic, the 2024 Mazda CX-90, sent Ciminillo into her famous #JillRants. While she generally likes the vehicle a lot, there’s one little thing that set her off. Oh, and we found out how wide her shoulders really are (Spoiler alert: 15 inches).
Esterdahl and Ciminillo do weekly livestreams on YouTube, which are projected out to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. In 2023, they are switching to a Monday/Tuesday schedule at 8 p.m. EST, so be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel and follow them on social media for the upcoming live episode timing and topics.
