No camo! New 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor spied at Target

Share

You won’t believe what you see in a Target parking lots sometimes — like a completely undisguised 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor.

While this truck is yet to be revealed in the U.S., the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor looks like it is ready to hit a dealer lot soon. And spy photographers just happened to see it in the parking lot.

What we know about 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor

The spy photographer says:

Today we have caught our first look at the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor completely undisguised.

Ford officially debuted the next-gen Ranger last February, but only showed the EU and Global trims. It was crickets when it came to the US market other than a guarantee from Jim Farley that the Ranger Raptor would be on sale sometime in 2023.

Looking at our shots, we can see that the US Ranger Raptor will be nearly identical to the Global Ranger Raptor. The only exterior differences we can see are a sliding rear window, a high mount brake light, a backup camera, and reflectors on the front fender flares.

Inside, the US Ranger Raptor looks identical to the global model, with not a single change in plain sight.

Powertrain options are expected to remain the same with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that’s said to make 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, although those numbers may be brought in line with the Bronco Raptor (418 hp & 440 lb-ft).

Expect an official debut for the US Ranger Raptor in the coming months.

What to expect

Like the spy photographer noted, this 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor should be fairly similar to the global Ranger Raptor sold in other markets.

Some of the notable changes will include safety features like windshield thickness, hazard light icon, brake light location, etc., which different for the U.S. market.

We did see a collection of other photos from the Michigan Assembly plant showing the Ranger Raptor on the assembly line, confirming this is the way the pickup will look.

It is expected to get the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, which is offered globally, although we could see tweaks to overall performance due to EPA emissions rules in the U.S.

The Ranger Raptor will be just one trim for the new Ford Ranger coming out later this year.

The bottom line

A new Ford Ranger Raptor would play well with the Bronco Raptor and F-150 Raptor, Ford’s current lineup of Raptor vehicles. This has become a highly sought after version of those Ford vehicles, and the appetite for more seems insatiable.

I’m hoping for a Hybrid trim and I’m a little sad to see the vertical screen…. hopefully the horizonal one is a decent size. Granted I have not driven/used one but really don’t like the vertical screen. It’s integrated pretty nicely in the RAM, however I do not like it in Lightning/Explorer.
