What’s new for the 2022 Kia Telluride?

Share

With a 68% sales increase (year-over-year), the Kia Telluride is one of the hottest-selling SUVs in the country. Having launched in 2019, the Telluride continues to make improvements and challenge the ultra-competitive midsize SUV segment.

For the 2022 model year, the Telluride gets subtle but significant updates, including the new Kia badging. In case you missed it, Kia redesigned its logo in 2021, and this newest iteration is starting to roll out to all of its vehicles.

Let’s take a look at the changes for the 2022 Telluride.

New exterior looks

If you spot the 2022 Telluride on the road you might think it’s the same as the 2021 version. But a closer look reveals some aesthetic changes. Other than the aforementioned new Kia logo, other cosmetic changes include:

  • Revised Telluride emblem on rear liftgate with smaller font and wider spacing
  • Revised radiator grille with new Kia emblem
  • Updated color and finish of “AWD” emblem (non-Nightfall)
  • Deleted trim and V6 emblems from liftgate

New interior looks

Similar to the exterior changes, there aren’t a lot, but there are some changes of note for the 2022 Telluride. Interior changes include:

  • Added 10.25-inch split-screen display with navigation (for all trims)
  • Added fully automatic temperature control, front and rear (for all trims)
  • Added Highway Driving Assist (for the LX trim only)
  • Added wireless phone charger (for the S trim)

For all trims Kia added a navigation-based Smart Cruise Control system.

Engine options and pricing of 2022 Kia Telluride

Mechanically the Telluride is unchanged for the 2022 model year. It’s still powered by a 3.8L V-6 GDI engine that makes 291 hp/262 lb.-ft. of torque. It is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It’s available in both all-wheel drive (AWD) and front-wheel drive (FWD). There are five trim levels total for the Telluride.

Pricing by trim:

  • LX (FWD): $32,790
  • LX (AWD): $34,790
  • S (FWD): $35,290
  • S (AWD): $37,290
  • EX (FWD): $37,790
  • EX (AWD): $39,790
  • SX (FWD): $42,690

The bottom line on the 2022 Kia Telluride

The Korean automaker continues to challenge much of its competition and produce high-quality, regularly updated vehicles. The Telluride has made quite a splash after only a few years on the market. The sales increase shows it has the public’s attention. Though the changes are minor, it’s good to see Kia doing its best to keep the Telluride fresh.
