Kia Telluride Could Get Luxury Trim, Off Road Package According To Report

Share

The debut of the Genesis GV80 CUV might be stealing the bulk of the spotlight away from the wildly popular Kia Telluride, but that doesn’t mean that Kia engineers have taken their ball and gone home when it comes to keeping the big ute up to date with the times. According to a new report, work is being done on two new packages that seek to greatly expand the Tellurides appeal.

The first of these alleged new packages is a luxury centric suite of extras that could bring the Telluride closer to territory owned by its cousin the Hyundai Palisade. However the source of the report (a post on Autospies.com via user Agent 00R) only lists a two tone roof that is supposedly exclusive to this variant. We suspect that if it is indeed production bound, look for a few Palisade lifted bits to come over as well.

The other alleged package is an off-road themed one that is expected to bolster the Telluride’s off-road abilities. The standard Telluride already wields an impressive set of off-road credentials, but a transfer case and beefier all Terrain tires are always welcome enhancements to any soft roader. As mentioned earlier, take these reports with a grain of salt since even the alleged monikers are unknown.

So why even give the limelight to a report like this? It all comes down to one key thing, timing. The GV80 is slated to make its debut today, and it will ride on a platform that is not shared with Hyundai or Kia. As such, we can’t help but ponder whether Kia will give the Telluride more of a styling statement to appeal to buyers that are not interested in the current model, but cannot make the leap into the Genesis.

Currently, the Telluride SX is the flagship in the model ladder, with that variant boasting an insane array of standard features and technology to make up for its lazy V6. But we always are welcome to the idea of a posher Telluride and we cannot wait to hear more information in the near future.
