More 2022 Toyota Tundra photos: Size comparison plus timing for the unveil

2022 toyota tundra photos

We’re loving all the 2022 Tundra spy photos. (Photo by KGP photography)

We’ve seen other spy photos of the 2022 Toyota Tundra, but from these new photos, it’s hard to tell if this is a new squared-off double cab or if this truck is a crew cab.

Either way, this shape is a lot different from the double cab Tundra following it around in this new batch of 2022 Tundra spy photos..

Body style changes

The Tundra in these photos is pretty well camouflaged so it’s hard to get an idea of what this truck will look like, but it seems like the rear lights may have changed some, and the front grille is looking sharp. If this is in fact a double cab then the cab itself has changed shape drastically and could end up with a full-sized window for the rear seat.

Gas, diesel or hybrid?

From the photos of the exhaust, this looks like a gas truck. While we’ve speculated in the past that this truck might get a diesel, Publisher Tim Esterdahl thinks it’ll be a V-8 and will probably have a turbocharged engine. He’s also hoping for a hybrid version with an onboard generator like the Ford PowerBoost.

When will the 2022 Tundra be available?

Since we’re starting to hear rumors of dealers and media getting together this summer, we’re guessing we’ll probably hear details sometime in June. The media wouldn’t get to drive them until fall and the trucks will likely be available shortly after that.

Made in the USA

Tundras are built in San Antonio, Texas, and since the Tacoma production moved to Mexico, the San Antonio plant should be able to handle building a greater quantity of these new trucks in multiple engine and cab configurations.

What do you think of the new 2022 Toyota Tundra photos in this video? Are you eager to see the truck unveiled?
