Spy photos and video of the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2. Oh my! (Photo by KGP)
The Silverado is going to be getting a lot of changes — from facia to shocks. And the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 has been rumored to be a Ford Raptor and Ram TRX competitor. From what we can make out from the spy photos and video below, it’s looking like a Trail Boss with some modifications for off-road driving.
But it may be a bit early to call this a competitor to two of the biggest, baddest trucks on the road.
The prototype 33-inch tires are a little taller and a little wider than the current Trail Boss’s tires, but they’re not 35 inches or 37 inches like the competitors. Of course, they may still make some modifications before the truck goes to production, but we doubt the tire size will increase.
Of course, in spy photos it’s hard to see the whole bumper, but it looks like the Silverado ZR2’s bumper will offer better off-road clearance, more like the Colorado ZR2, and there’s a skid plate for protecting the important stuff too.
Suspension upgrades are coming. So far we’re spying inverted shocks for better ride quality. But, will they be Multimatic DSSV like the Colorado or something else?
Chevy caught a lot of flak for the dated materials and lack of wow-factor with the 2019 refresh of the Silverado. So we’re really hoping the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 interior will be more like the Tahoe and that there will be a bigger infotainment screen.
The spy photographer caught this one from a lot of different angles and even got some footage of the truck pulling out onto the highway. We’re wondering, does the exhaust note leave something to be desired? Is this something you’ll get excited about?
