Amazing Story! Meet the Truck Owner with 1,500,000+ Miles on Two GM Trucks

Once upon a time getting a truck with 150,000 miles on it was considered well used. If that was considered well used, what do you call a truck with a million miles on it? Or how about this story of a truck owner with not just a million mile truck, but another truck with 500k+ miles. Incredible? You bet.

Brook Smith literally redefines what it means to use, really use, your truck for work. While he may not go off-road in his rigs very much, unlike the 4×4 fanatics over at Fatboysoffroad, there is a lot that these rigs can still do as trucks. As an RV hauler, he spends hours, days and even weeks driving across the U.S. and Canada delivering RVs. His livelihood depends on a dependable truck and for him, he not only has one dependable truck, he has two.

His first truck, “Big Red”, is a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado DRW crew cab, 4×4 with a Duramax Diesel that turned over 1 million miles with the original motor and transmission even with all the miles towing! He bought it new and has put an additional 39,000+ miles on it since once you pass the million mark, the odometer froze. He had to get a new dash and has a letter from the dealer with his old mileage.

Big Red is an amazing truck to look over. It has a few rust spots only on the hood and the tailgate. The tailgate could have been avoided as Smith says since he didn’t quite clean out the crevice (the tailgate meets the bed) as well as he could. However, it really isn’t that much rust considering the mileage and driving from his home in Southern Missouri to all across the country in different environments.

We visited Smith in Missouri in between RV runs. Watch our video and be prepared to be amazed at his tire usage, maintenance intervals and fuel economy.

Below is the second video his 2015 GMC Sierra SRW with a Duramax Diesel engine and 500k+ miles on it. Smith will compare the two trucks and gives a lot of insight as to the differences between them.

Finally, we will have a video with his top towing tips since he has plenty of experiences towing RVs in all sorts of weather. Stay tuned!
