The stronger TurboMax engine is not the only change listed for the 2027 GMC Canyon. GM’s U.S. order guide also identifies new paint choices, revised wheels and standard 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability across the trim columns.
We already covered the Colorado and Canyon’s new TurboMax output. This overview looks at the rest of the Canyon update and the basic truck configuration, without treating an ordering-code change as a complete redesign.
2027 GMC Canyon adds three paint choices

The guide lists Forest Bronze, Dark Ridge Metallic and Vortex Blue as new exterior colors. Desert Sun, Rapids Metallic and Glacier Metallic appear on the deletion list.
That gives shoppers a reason to check the model year when choosing a color. Availability and any paint surcharge should be confirmed for the trim being ordered; the highlights list alone does not establish that every finish is offered on every Canyon.
AT4X and Denali receive revised wheel designs

The new wheel entries include 17-inch Painted Deep Void aluminum wheels for AT4X and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with Carbon Grey Metallic accents for Denali. The guide also lists a 20-inch Gloss Black finish wheel and a dealer-installed 18-inch Gloss Black Machine Faced choice.
These are appearance and equipment changes, not proof that every trim gains a larger tire or a new suspension. The AT4X equipment listing still identifies its off-road hardware, including selectable front and rear locking differentials, underbody cameras and a suspension with a 3-inch lift.
5G hotspot capability appears across the lineup

The Interior equipment table marks the new U5G 5G Wi-Fi Hotspot capability standard for Elevation in two- and four-wheel drive, AT4, AT4X and Denali. Capability does not mean unlimited data service is included; connectivity terms and plan requirements still apply.
GM also lists a universal garage-door opener among the new features. Its trim availability was not established in the equipment table reviewed for this story, so buyers should confirm that feature on the actual order rather than assume it is standard throughout the range.
TurboMax, eight-speed automatic and crew-cab dimensions

The Mechanical table makes the new L4B TurboMax engine standard across the listed trims and retains the 8L80 eight-speed automatic. Our earlier report, citing GM Authority and TFLtruck, detailed the 2.7-liter engine’s 350 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. Sharing that engine with GM’s larger pickups does not mean the midsize truck adopts their ten-speed transmission.
The Canyon remains listed as a crew cab with a short box. The guide gives an overall length of 213.2 inches, an approximately 131-inch wheelbase and a bed-floor length of 61.7 inches. Rear legroom is listed at 34.7 inches. Elevation has two- and four-wheel-drive configurations; AT4, AT4X and Denali are listed with four-wheel drive.
The reviewed order-guide pages do not establish a starting MSRP or a new EPA fuel-economy rating. For now, the confirmed broader changes are the engine code, connectivity capability, colors and wheel choices. Check the final window sticker for exact equipment, pricing and capability before ordering.
