A recall of 201,976 Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer vehicles for faulty TPMS.
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer, 2024-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2025 Jeep Wagoneer L, 2025-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, 2026 Jeep Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Wagoneer L PHEV vehicles. Due to a software error, the tire pressure monitoring system may fail to detect low tire pressure and/or fail to illuminate the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring System.”

Descriptive Information
Some 2024-2025 Model Year (MY) Jeep Wagoneer, 2024-2026 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2024-2026 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2024-2026 MY Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (“PHEV”), 2024-2026 MY Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2025-2026 MY Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, 2025 MY Jeep Wagoneer L, 2026 MY Jeep Cherokee, and 2026 MY Jeep Grand Wagoneer L PHEV vehicles may be equipped with a Radio Frequency Hub (“RFH”) with software that can cause loss of function in the Tire Pressure Monitor System (“TPMS”).

During the suspect periods, software was introduced into vehicle production resulting in the possible loss of function. This software was no longer used after the end of each suspect period. The suspect periods were determined using vehicle production records.
Similar vehicles not included in this recall had a properly functioning TPMS at the time of first sale, or were built before or after the suspect periods.
Description of defect or noncompliance:
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 138 requires that “…each vehicle must be equipped with a tire pressure monitor system” that detects “when one or more of a vehicles tires is significantly under-inflated and illuminates a low tire pressure warning telltale.” The tire pressure system in the suspect vehicles may not accurately detect low tire pressure or illuminate a low tire pressure warning telltale.
Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:
A TPMS that is unable to warn a driver of tire pressures outside of recommended limits can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
Description of the cause:

Identification of any warning that can occur:
None prior to failure. However, depending on the failure mode, the customer may see one or more of the following: a cluster message to service the tire pressure system, a MIL or dashes in place of placard values.
Chronology
On August 28, 2025, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into some 2024-2025 Model Year Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Cherokee PHEV, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer L PHEV, Wagoneer, and Wagoneer L vehicles based on engineering testing for a potential noncompliance with FMVSS No. 138 Tire Pressure Monitor Systems.
From August 2025 to December 2025, TSRC met with FCA US engineering to review an issue related to Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer TPMS losing reference tire pressures stored in the RFH.
From December 2025 to March 2026, field data was reviewed with the supplier, and an additional root cause was identified for loss of reference tire pressure values, which warranted a scope expansion to include 2026 Model Year vehicles and the Jeep Cherokee.
From March 2026 to May 2026, field data was used to identify a third root cause that prevents tire pressure values from updating.
From May 2026 to July 2026, TSRC worked with the FCA US engineering team to finalize vehicle scope.
On July 29, 2026, FCA US TSRC organization recognized that a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to TPMS, potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 138.
On August 26, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 138 exists in certain vehicles.
