You know it’s going to be a fun video when “Tim the Truck Guy” says” “This compact Ford Maverick truck might just upset the entire pickup world by being a big hit.”
Yeah, that’s right. He’s talking about the 2022 Ford Maverick pickup truck.
The 2022 Ford Maverick is very compact inside and out. It will fit great in urban garages, park easily and it’s great for vertically challenged people who normally struggle to reach items in the truck bed.
The only downside we can see is the limited space inside, particularly in the second row where a rear passenger may be a bit cramped if the person seated in front of them is on the tall side. But Ford did a great job of making sure the driver would have plenty of legroom and everyone has ample head and shoulder room. That’s impressive for such a small vehicle.
You won’t find a King Ranch, Platinum or Limited trim on the Maverick, but that’s OK. This truck is meant to be affordable and practical. You can add the FX4 package to the XLT or Lariat trims to add skid plates, off-road tires, front tow hooks and hill descent and off-road drive modes.
Live on a ranch or have a hunting lease? The Maverick could totally replace your side by side with an air-conditioned (and heated) cab — and all the creature comforts of a real pickup truck. It is capable of light off-roading, gets excellent fuel economy and is road legal. The slots in the bed let you build your own bed dividers, bike racks, etc. And, storage bins under the rear seats (except hybrid) give you even more storage. The truck comes with QR codes with instructions to 3D print your own custom dividers for the under-seat storage and cut your own bed dividers to customize the Flexbed.
But wait, there’s more. Here are just a few of the other features we love on this new compact pickup truck.
In short, the capability for the price is fantastic. We think Ford really knocked it out of the park with the Maverick and we can’t wait to see what you think of it. Watch the video below and let us know in the comments.
