Ford’s Ranger mid-size pickup has managed to carve a niche for itself since it made it’s long overdue return to the mid-size pickup segment over a year ago. While we are still disappointed that the Ranger Raptor has not made its debut in the U.S. as of yet, Ford has instead introduced a new breadcrumb feature for the SYNC 3 infotainment system.
This Hansel & Gretel inspired feature has been around for a while now, but according to Ford, this often overlooked item is a big help for off-roaders off the beaten path. If the Ranger ventures into an area where there is no cellphone signal, the little breadcrumbs in the screen will help drivers find their way back to civilization again. Ford also revealed that the breadcrumbs option is also being added to other truck offerings in its lineup.
Despite this feature often being overlooked in favor of things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it’s good to see that Ford leaves no stone unturned, and that even the little things can help customers when they truly need it the most. In the meantime, Ford has released a brief video explaining the feature which can be seen below.
