On June 22, Roush Performance shared this shadowy picture of what appears to be a Ram 1500 TRX with the caption “It’s going to be a rowdy, all-American summer” across the company’s social media channels. As you can see, the dark image of the truck has the Roush logo and the current Ram Trucks logo with an X in the middle, suggesting that the Detroit-based tuning company is working with Stellanis’ truck brand on some sort of project.

On the surface, it doesn’t seem all that odd that an aftermarket tuning company would plan to modify a new, popular performance truck. However, Roush has built a strong reputation for their factory-backed Ford performance vehicles, so it comes as a surprise to some that the company may soon begin offering upgrade packages for a key Ford competitor. Ram Brand boss Tim Kuniskis loves when his vehicles are the most powerful on the market. And Ram having an aftermarket package from Roush that would overpower all of their Ford projects in the past also seems like a feather than Kuniskis would enjoy having in his cap.

Today, we take a look at what Roush and Ram might have coming this summer.

Roush has a Rep for Modifying Fords

If you visit the Roush Performance website, you will see a whole lot of Ford products. The top of the page is dominated by Roush-modified Ford pickups. In fact, under the “vehicles” tab of the website, there are four Ford F-Series trucks for 2026 and 2025, and if you visit their vehicle archive, you will find 61 vehicles listed – 59 of which are Ford trucks or a Ford Mustang. The other two are Slingshots.

Roush did offer a modified Nissan Frontier Pro-4X, it is not listed in the vehicle archive. Instead, it is listed at the bottom of the main page and the bottom of the vehicles page. The upgrades are similar to those of the off-road Ford trucks, with suspension upgrades, a wheel-and-tire package, some upgraded body components, skidplates, and badging.

In addition to the Roush vehicle lineup, the website also offers a wide range of performance parts for the Mustang and F-150, including superchargers, intakes, suspension components and much more. All-in-all, Roush obvious focuses much more on Ford products, but all of these off-road trucks may give us an idea of what the tuner has in store for the Ram collaboration.

The Roush F-150 is offered on various F-150 models and it begins with some performance upgrades such as Roush suspension package, a wheel-and-tire package and a cat-back exhaust system. Exterior upgrades include a custom grille, fender flares, hood, front bumper, and plenty of badging. Inside, the Premium Package upgrade adds luxurious custom leather seats with Roush logos, carbon fiber trim and an overhead auxiliary switch panel.

Next, the Roush RT6 serves as a more extreme version of the Roush F-150, adding a 6-inch lift, bigger wheels and tires, more exterior lighting, more aggressive exterior styling, and similar premium package features on the inside. Roush calls this the ultimate off-road performance truck.

The third current off-road truck from Roush is the Roush Super Duty and you have likely already guessed that it is based on the Ford Super Duty. This package is only offered on the F-250 and F-350 Lariat models with the 6.7L Power Stroke turbocharged diesel V8. Like the F-150 off-road packages, this model adds Roush suspension, a wheel-and-tire package, a spread of exterior upgrades, plenty of badging, and premium interior appointments.

The last current vehicle is the Roush Nitemare, which is a lowered Ford F-150 sport truck. Like the off-road trucks, the Nitemare has a custom suspension system, a wheel-and-tire package, custom body bits, and unique badging – the key difference is that this is a street-sport truck and not an off-road truck. That being said, there is no question that the Ram in the teaser is a high-riding off-road truck, so the Nitemare really isn’t relevant here.

A Roush TRX May Follow the Same Recipe

While all of the trucks mentioned above share attributes like a wheel-and-tire package, a custom suspension system from Roush, custom body bits and lots of badges, none of them get any substantial upgrade in power. The “original” Ram 1500 TRX offered 702 horsepower and the new 2027 Ram delivers 777 horsepower, both from a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8, so they really don’t “need” more power. Roush could follow the same basic recipe with the Ram project as the company did with the current Ford lineup – adding a lifted suspension, wheels and tires, badges and exterior upgrades like a new grille, bumpers and exhaust – and the Roush TRX would be pretty cool.

The tuning company could also go a bit more extreme, in which case the Roush Ram 1500 TRX could be an absolute monster.

A Roush TRX Could Be Something Special

In researching this piece, I came across a few interesting bits of information. Roush Performance works with HPTuners for their tuning needs. The Direct Connection Whipple supercharger package that is offered for the Ram 1500 with the 5.7-liter Hemi comes with an HPTuners device. HPTuners devices are available to tune the previous TRX, so it seems likely that the new TRX will also be tuned with the HPTuners system.

If Roush opts to go more extreme with their Ram project, the company could use their connection with HPTuners to add power to the Ram 1500 TRX. With the 702-horsepower TRX, just a tune alone could add a fairly significant amount of power, but we will have to wait to see how much extra power tuners can pull from the 777-horsepower TRX with just a tune. It seems reasonable that just a tune could add enough power to be a marketing point, like the “800hp Roush TRX.”

On the other hand, we know for a fact that adding a smaller pulley to the Hellcat Hemi – thus more boost pressure – leads to gobs more power. A pulley swap and a good tune could result in even bigger power numbers, making the TRX the pinnacle Roush performance off-road truck.

We reached out to Roush for comment but haven’t heard back as of press time. When we do, expect further coverage of this story.
