The birthday package gets the attention, but families comparing towing capacity and price have another decision to make: Platinum and King Ranch now offer 4×2 configurations. Ford lists the 2027 Expedition Active at $63,600 before its $2,795 destination charge, or $66,395 delivered before taxes, options and dealer fees. It adds anniversary badging and 22-inch Ebony-painted, bright-machined aluminum wheels with special center caps. Available Blue Ember Metallic paint is exclusive to this Expedition package; Ford previously used the color on the Mustang Dark Horse. Ford’s [anniversary announcement]() also shows a light Salt Crystal Gray interior, anniversary door-sill details and an embossed leather center console. These are appearance changes, so shoppers should not assume the anniversary badge automatically brings the high-output engine. Elsewhere in the lineup, Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Nocturnal Blue Metallic join the available paint choices. Ford also adds 4×2 availability to Platinum and King Ranch. The high-output version delivers 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet, comes standard in Tremor and is available on Platinum and MAX Platinum. Both engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. According to [Ford’s 2027 specifications](), the standard-length Expedition 4×2 can tow up to 6,000 pounds. Select 4×4 versions reach 9,600 pounds with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. The longer MAX has different limits: up to 6,300 pounds with 4×2 and 9,000 pounds with properly equipped 4×4. Check the actual vehicle’s equipment and ratings before choosing a trailer. For the Active with the standard V6, Ford lists EPA estimates of 16 mpg city and 23 highway with 4×2, versus 15 city and 22 highway with 4×4. Both measure 94.6 inches wide including mirrors. Seating accommodates seven or eight people, depending on configuration. The extra MAX length is worth checking against the garage as well as the family’s luggage needs. Ford lists maximum cargo lengths of 90.4 inches for Platinum and 102.2 inches for MAX Platinum. Most Expedition models have at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance; Tremor raises that figure to 10.6 inches and adds 33-inch all-terrain tires and a 3.73 electronic-locking differential. A 24-inch panoramic display and separate 13.2-inch center display are listed on Active, along with the power Ford Split Gate. Adding the listed $2,795 destination charge brings those figures to $66,395, $73,345, $85,195 and $85,490, respectively, before options, taxes and dealer fees. The anniversary package and extra-cost paint are not included in those starting prices. Platinum buyers can now weigh the lower-complexity 4×2 choice against the traction and higher available towing capability of 4×4. Families carrying people and luggage should compare standard and MAX cargo room first.
