# My 2027 Silverado Gets a Build Week and a Mexico Assembly Surprise

My 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country order has a target production week: November 23, 2026. The surprise in the latest update from Kevin Kelley at Kelley Automotive Group is where the truck is expected to come from.

Kevin says most of the early trucks will be assembled in Mexico, with production of the new model at Fort Wayne not starting until after the new year. That makes Mexico the expectation for my early order, although the order screenshot he sent does not identify an assembly plant. For now, I have a target build week. The truck has not been completed, and I do not have a delivery date.

## My order is at status 3000

Kevin’s September 21 update includes a screenshot from GM’s Order Workbench. It lists the model year as 2027, the truck as a four-wheel-drive Silverado 1500 short-bed crew cab, and the current event as 3000. The description beside that code reads “Accepted by Production Control.”

The target production week field shows November 23, 2026. That is the clearest new milestone in this update. It gives me something more specific to follow than a general expectation for the truck’s arrival.

It is still a target week. The screenshot does not show a VIN or an estimated delivery date, and it does not say the truck has been built. I will treat the schedule as the current plan and follow the next update rather than assume November 23 is a guaranteed completion date.

## Mexico assembly is the unexpected part

The location caught my attention because I ordered through Kelley Chevrolet in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A dealer’s location does not determine where a truck is assembled, but hearing that my early order is expected to come from Mexico was still a surprise.

Kevin’s explanation is that most trucks at the start of production will be assembled in Mexico, while Fort Wayne will begin building the new model after the new year. That is the production guidance he shared with me, not a plant assignment displayed on my individual order screenshot.

There is also an important distinction between the new-model launch schedule and the plant’s general role. GM [lists Fort Wayne Assembly](<https://www.gm.com/company/us-operations>) as a producer of light-duty Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. Kevin’s comment concerns the rollout of the new truck; it should not be read as saying Fort Wayne does not build pickups.

## This is the High Country I ordered for long-term testing

As I explained in [the original order story](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2026/09/why-i-ordered-2027-chevy-silverado-1500-high-country/>), I chose a High Country in Pacific Blue Metallic with the new 6.6-liter V8, Super Cruise, a panoramic sunroof and the extended-range gasoline tank. Early allocation and the opportunity to cover a substantially new truck were major parts of that decision.

Owning the truck gives me time to explore the things a short media drive cannot settle. I want to live with the cabin and controls, put miles on the powertrain and use the truck for the work we cover at Pickup Truck + SUV Talk.

This update is about the order’s progress. The pricing fields in the screenshot are marked N/A, so it does not establish the final price of my truck. I will share the actual numbers when I have the relevant paperwork rather than turn an empty field into a price estimate.

## The next question is when it reaches the dealership

A production target and a dealership arrival are different milestones. My screenshot leaves the delivery-date field blank, so there is no confirmed pickup date to report. Kevin says he will pass along more information as it becomes available.

For now, the meaningful update is that the order is accepted by production control and has a November 23 target production week. Mexico is the expected assembly location based on Kevin’s explanation of the early production plan, but I still want the individual truck’s plant information when it is available.

I will keep following the order from here. The build location was the surprise this morning; the next milestone I want to see is confirmation that the truck has actually been produced.
