That is a lot of money for a heavy-duty pickup, and it is a reminder to read the labels before assuming what any diesel truck can carry. This was a short drive and walkaround between events, not a towing test or a weeklong evaluation. The truck had the Cummins diesel, an extensive list of comfort and towing-related options, and several features I would like to spend more time using. (Tim Esterdahl) The sticker is the story here. This Bright White Rebel has black leather-trimmed bucket seats and a long list of equipment beyond the basic truck. The diesel alone adds $12,595 on the sticker I reviewed, while the Rebel Level 2 equipment group accounts for roughly $8,400. That equipment list includes comfort features such as upgraded audio, power adjustments, memory functions and dual wireless charging. The truck also has power-deployable running boards, a sport performance hood, a sunroof, a spray-in bedliner and RamBox storage. Automatic-leveling rear air suspension is another option, listed at $1,705. Those are prices from this specific 2025 truck, not a current quote or a promise that another Rebel will be equipped the same way. The $99,105 total makes more sense once you read through the options, but it still puts this pickup in expensive territory. ## The diesel badge does not tell you the payload ![Cummins diesel engine bay in the 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel]() The Cummins is only part of the configuration; the truck’s own labels matter, too. (Tim Esterdahl) I checked the payload label because this truck had so much equipment. Its rating was 1,849 pounds. That number belongs to this particular truck; it should not be treated as the rating for every Ram 2500 Rebel. It also shows why the heavy-duty badge alone is not enough information for a purchase. Some half-ton configurations offer more payload than that, even though they are a different class of truck. Engine choice and equipment matter, and the label on the vehicle in front of you is more useful than a maximum figure attached to the broader lineup. I did not hook up a trailer during this visit, so I am not giving this truck a towing verdict. The sticker’s combined Rebel/Power Wagon wording also caught my eye in the video. The truck shown is a Rebel, and that wording is not a reason to present it as a diesel Power Wagon or assume it has that model’s equipment. ## The cabin feels every bit as loaded as the sticker ![Center display and passenger-side dashboard of the Ram 2500 Rebel]() The large center screen, passenger display and wireless charging are part of this loaded cabin. (Tim Esterdahl) Ram’s interior presentation is something I continue to like. This truck combines leather seats, attractive door trim and a large center screen with a separate passenger display. The two wireless charging positions and plentiful power connections are useful details when more than one person is traveling. The rear seat area has USB connections, vents and a household-style outlet. Up front, I found adjustable pedals, heated and ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel among the controls. The power-adjustable seat took a little sorting out because it was set far higher than I wanted when I climbed in. The deployable running boards were an immediate favorite at my height. I also liked the power-extending and folding towing mirrors, including the ability to adjust the lower convex section from the controls. This is a large truck, and those everyday conveniences help make it easier to use. ## The bed and air suspension deserve a longer test ![Spray-in bedliner and sliding cargo tie-down rails in the Ram Rebel bed]() The bed has a spray-in liner and adjustable tie-downs. (Tim Esterdahl) Around the bed, this Rebel has RamBox compartments, a power outlet, a spray-in liner and adjustable tie-downs. It is the shorter bed configuration shown in the video, not an eight-foot bed with RamBoxes. Together, these features give the truck several ways to organize and secure gear. Inside the vehicle settings, I tried the bed-lowering function and confirmed that this truck has rear air suspension. I would like a longer loan to measure the height change and see how the system fits into everyday loading. I did not complete that test during this short visit. On the Michigan roads I drove, the ride was acceptable to me for a heavy-duty truck. I could use it through a workday, but I would want a reason to choose this much truck for a long cross-country trip. The equipment is appealing; the purchase still needs to fit the job.
