The off-road-focused Grand Cherokee is officially coming back later this year, and even with limited details, there is plenty to unpack. I tested one on my favorite proving grounds and feel like the bones were there, but the 4xe system paired with the air suspension felt like too much tech in an off-roader. The last Trailhawk was tied to the now-discontinued 4xe system. A return to that system seems highly unlikely, especially as brands like [Ram bring back the HEMI V8]() to popular models. There is also some history here. When the current-generation Grand Cherokee first launched as a 2022 model, Trailhawk models were associated with HEMI V8 power and the 4xe system. 4xe models had blue tow hooks and a blue “Trailhawk” accent on the hood.
